Rats are intelligent, I have to admit this. Do you agree?

Our office is on ground floor, usually ground floors are the favourite places for rats. There are small as well as big (you can find a variety of rats indeed). Two weeks ago a small one spotted inside the office room. Since computers are her we become alert and worried. The lady who came for sweeping, suggested buying a ‘glue-trap’. If a rat runs over it then it will be sticky on the surface. She herself bought it and it has been kept on different places inside the office room but the rat is so clever and avoided it wisely. We could find poops of rats nearby the trap but it never touch on the trap.
Yesterday a big one spotted but none of them get hooked within this trap. I think rats are aware about the danger and avoid the same cleverly.
We have to find out some other way to avoid the rats from office premises.
How do you trapped rats if you find one anywhere near to you?

@allknowing I do agree dear, earlier I was in that kind of mindset. But now I don't know why I feel not kill any animals.

@Sreekala No one wants to kill but they are destructive and they are a health hazard.

They are very clever indeed but they give me the shivers just to look at them.

@Sreekala
Not likely no chance I would say either they would move out or I would move instead.

Yes rates are too much clever, once they eat my printer at my shop in this way that i have no hope to repair it. We are using cage at my house. You can also used it. If problem is serious one than you can use a pestisides, red phasphorse. It is a strong poison It is available at pesticides shops. Be careful for yours computers.

I had to buy a cage trap to catch a wood mouse last year, because my cat was not interested by it. When you put a trap or poisoned food you need to wear plastic gloves, or a mouse/rat will stay away if it smells that a human touched the trap. It is perhaps the problem with your glue trap.

In our earlier house, we used to get rats at times and we use the cage trap for catching them then let them free in a park. We kept food items inside without using any gloves. May be they are tempted on food items. Here the in this glue trap, no food is there. Need to change the method of operation.
