The Ytterbium Eastercon Convention 2019 Tuesday 16th April 2019 Travelling To London

Back from my adventures.
Though the convention wasn’t starting until Friday 19th April 2019, I travelled down a few days before to be able to explore London.
To get a full day of exploring on the Wednesday I caught an overnight coach on the Tuesday, leaving at about 9.30pm. My day had been spent getting my blood pressure checked by my GP and doing some job hunting before completing my packing.
The bus to the coach station went smoothly.
When I saw the other stops the coach made before reaching Victoria Station in the capital, it stopped at Heathrow Airport, quite close to Hounslow where I was staying (the convention itself being in Heathrow). I asked the driver if he could drop me off a stop earlier than stated on my ticket. Bizarrely, he couldn’t unless I was willing to pay another £20.00 as the airport is a premier fare destination while my journey 25 miles further into London was cheaper. It was still way cheaper for me to go to London and come back towards Heathrow & Hounslow by train.
The coach ride itself went well, and the coach was not over-crowded. I’d reach London around about dawn.

@Ladyluck The Divine Comedy is a music band - the song is a spoof on the real coach company I travelled with

@arthurchappell Thank you Arthur, I watched the video and I thought it was the name of the band.

Well you win some and you lose some. At least you had some fun in London.

@jaboUK it was very odd logic by the bus company - it was a great weekend

@LindaOHio Just come back. It is an annual science fiction convention that happens every year in the UK - this was the 70th year of the event. I have been going for over 20 years

Stupid rules like the one not allowing you to get off the bus at the airport are going to cost the company way more than £20.00 in the form of bad will.
Can't wait to read the reports on the convention.

exactly, I feel sorry for those who were going to the airport, not knowing they would have had cheaper journeys going further on and then coming back on themselves

@arthurchappell Sooner or later, it's going to lead to less customers for them.
