Do you cross off notifications without looking at them?

I know that we can use MyLot any way we like ( while still respecting the guidelines of course ) but sometimes....no actually a lot of the time I feel like people are just getting rid of notifications and not opening them up to see who has spoken to them. Hey whatever floats your boat! I can not count how many times I've seen people talking all over the place yet not responding back to anything. Or sometimes very little at least! It doesn't bother me entirely but it does give me a "well duh" moment when people complain about not making any money here. Cause well...."duh." I also know and respect that people can not always spend time on here so I'm not talking about you people! But does anyone actually do this? Is my theory correct by any chance? Or is there same weird portal here that I'm not aware of where notifications go bye bye?

I try to first check all notifications to threads I've started, I don't start many so that's usually no problem :-) I usually check the other ones too, 'cause I get a bit miffed myself when I answer a discussion and don't get any response. Trying to be polite, unless I don't log on for days.

@VivaLaDani13 Yes, especially when you see them posting thread after thread and never answering anything, or just a few posts, then moving on to the next. I used to know who they were, 5 years ago, now I have to figure it out again :-)

@Torunn I can totally understand where you are coming from. Like I am very understanding and open minded as to why people don't come back but after awhile, especially those who are online a lot yet don't answer people back, it gets a little irritating.

@Torunn Exactly! I just don't get it.

I never do this one. I experienced from a mylotter not getting responses but it’s ok.

@Janet357 I never do this either. I've seen quite a lot of people never get back and it just makes me wonder why. Since this is a site of interaction with each other. Just confuses me is all.

@Janet357 Absolutely agree with you! I like to look around for new people to talk to but it's not often I do that because I like to stick with people who I know will get back to me. Because sometimes I feel like I'm wasting my time thinking and typing to people who may never read it or bother getting back to me.

@VivaLaDani13 exactly. You know, like i said to some friends here, i encountered mylotters who never replied to your responses to their discussions. And somehow it offended me. I just did not tell my rants because what was the point anyway? The best i did was not to respond to their posts. This is a forum site therefor one expects you to respond or just like your post. If one does not like to do it, better not join, right?

@VivaLaDani13 Yeah, maybe that's why I have a hard time to reach the minimum before, because I'm not much active plus I'm not interacting much unlike nowadays

@tech40 I think you're right about that! Because as you now know, the more you keep interacting, the better. You're doing awesome nowadays.

I respond to everyone who comments on my posts. It may take me a while, but at least I do that. I've noticed that some do not respond at all, nor repay the favor.

@DianneN I am the exact same as you. There is not one post I've done here where I've left anyone hanging. Everyone gets a response even if I have to repeat myself. But yeah same as you, I've notice quite a lot of people don't reply back yet are still online so it just makes me think they are crossing their notifications or just ignoring others. Not sure.

@LowRiderX That is really nice of you to give that sort of respect because yeah like you said, not everyone can do that for one reason or another.

@VivaLaDani13 Now I do not miss any of those I'm sure of. Why I would? So it does not benefit either myself or the person who comments, and I need to respect people who have taken the time to comment on the discussion .... I am at least such, I do not know about others

As a sort of a non-user of this website in that I am nor here all that often and have limited time I think I can give you a perspective that might answer some of your questions. Are you still wondering about this or have you come to some conclusions? Let me know please. Here's getting back to you. Have a great one. :)

@mynameiskate Hey! I still wonder this some times as I still see people online who don't seem to get back to others so I can only assume they cross off notifications or maybe they do read the Responses / Comments but just don't interact back. I guess the answer to this question will vary from MyLotter to MyLotter.

@mynameiskate I understand what you mean. I have fallen into the trap many times where people ask for my help ( online and offline ) and say they will return the favour but that is usually a lie to stuck you into doing them the favour first. I honestly don't mind helping people nor do I expect something in return but I lost interest in helping if they lie too much or take my help for granted. I am the same. I always comment back to people who have answered my Discussions but give them a Like if I have nothing further to say after that. If someone comments back to me after I have answered their Discussion then I will Like and comment if I have anything else to say or just Like if nothing else needs to be said. I take note for sure. I mainly only interact with those who I know will get back to me. But doesn't mean I can't see those who are online and not getting back to anyone. I'm just observant is all and curious as to why it happens.

@VivaLaDani13 I think you nailed it, every person is different in how they use a site. I've been playing an online game which is also interactive and found out quickly that people don't always interact the way you might like or expect. They play the game same as you but if you send them a message most don't even take the time to reply. It is just the way it is. But the same people have no problem asking you for something. Some in the game however are not like that. I can only spend so much time so might pick something to discuss with someone like this topic but the others I put on hold. Do always hit the like icon after reading though. I am finding as well not all comments left are really suitable to continuing. Sure people get busy or just interested in spending a little time on the site then move on. So as you wrote it varies from person to person. Make note of people and talk to those that are interested in what you write? Not many sites online are like that I think?

I usually respond whenever I get a notification. I might miss something when I have 3 notifications for the same thing and don't remember if I've responded! There certainly are people who just come on here, post one discussion, and disappear. Or people who don't bother responding at all.

@pumpkinjam Yeah that is fair enough. That can surely happen. Sometimes the notifications here can be a bit confusing. I can understand when people leave. Though, I feel they didn't really give it enough time to figure it out but that's ok too. But yes some do post after post without talking to anyone. I have no issue if they do that because they want to share or vent. But those who complain about not making much money....well...it's because they lack the interaction part.

I am usually here only on weekends. So whatever little time I get here I check my own discussions and also try and see others discussions as much as possible. I try to give justice to all the notifications I receive. There are quite a few pending in my inbox and I am trying to clear as much as possible every week.

I lost some of my notifications because they got too old, but I never delete them without reading them. I have about 250 at moment, and I didn't read all of them yet. Some people start discussions and write responses and comments, but they don't seem interested in having a conversation with the people who respond or comment back. It seems like they write something and never return to that discussion again.

@VivaLaDani13 I hope to read all of the notifications before they disappear. I always enjoy reading people's comments. I love talking to people here, and some conversations go on for a long time Yes, I also wonder why people some people don't return to the discussions. I think they miss out on a lot of interesting conversations that way.

@Porcospino WOW! That is a lot of notifications. I wish you luck on getting through them if you manage to. I understand things offline need more attention than what's online. And exactly. It's exactly what I see and exactly what confuses me. Or makes me wonder why that is so.

@MommyOfEli2013 I feel like they do. Only because I hardly, or sometimes never see them return to their discussions or come back to comments yet are still online because they keep talking here. Just curious if maybe they just cross everything.

@VivaLaDani13 That is a very good question. I know some that just like to post things, and comment once or something, but not go back and continue the conversations. I like going back and talking more if there is stuff left to say!
