They've started showing up in my City now

Those crude drawings that are put on roads around potholes. We all know to what I refer. Apparently they are showing up in my city as well now. I've seen pictures of them in other Countries, other cities, but this is the first I've seen them in my own neck of the woods.
Of course, the city has been taking care of the roads lately. One of my own neighborhood roads was given a paving over, and another "shortcut" road was just given a facelift of it's own, as well as double yellow lines that the road had never seen before.
However, there are some potholes in my area that could use a good smoothing over. There are more in the heavily trafficked areas of the city.
I'm glad someone is actively doing something to get the city's attention, even if it isn't the most socially responsible thing to do.

I just looked it up. Oh - now I know what you mean by crude. I haven't seen that yet, but that sounds like something that would catch on here - but I hope not. We are already having to deal with graffiti as it is. At the same time, yah, those potholes would certainly get attention . . . as my boss used to say, it's the squeaky wheel that gets fixed .

I had one member suggest I add a picture. I don't think they realized I used "crude' In these sense of explicit images. Oh well, I hate to admit that I am not that member's biggest fan anyway.
I mean, I can understand why those things are being graffit'd onto streets, but I often wonder just how much positive (as in the city being prompt to do something about it) action it gets?
I can see the city just as easily painting over the offensive imagery in lieu of fixing the potholes right away.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Oh no - you can't add "that" picture - don't want to get in trouble here .
More than just attention for fixing the darn potholes, I think some funny guys must like just being funny - so they do it to get themselves the attention .
Ugh, yah, I can see the city painting over it too . . . some things are just not run efficiently here as they could be (sigh).

@much2say Oh, and I meant to comment that our city is doing it's own graffiti. There is a school of the arts in my city, and so there are some places in the city that have been "graffiti'd" with the permission of the city of course.

Look at it this way--at least you can see them before you hit them

@ScribbledAdNauseum And yet, the "art" is at least amusing--when I have hit the same pothole for the third or fourth time, I am no longer amused

@divalounger Oh nom, of course not. We travel the same roads though and have learned to "dodge" the potholes. My city is doing some road restorations (re-doing bridges, repaving roads) so hopefully they will get to all the potholes.

You wouldn't miss most of these anyway, with or without the "art".

Well, I guess the person wants attention for the potholes. We don't seem to have too many of them around here. I hope yours get fixed.

I would have thought they'd fix the potholes as they paved roads surrounding it, but apparently not. They are also replacing bridges and doing other roadwork around I-40. They have been for this past year, maybe part of last year as well.

It probably did start here. We're a crude bunch of people. Somebody somewhere also started the craze of filling them in with soil and creating miniature flowerbeds. Much cuter than rude stuff.

Yes, I think the soil and miniature flower garden is a better idea.
The photo I saw had been shared from a person on facebook. It hadn't been posted to, or brought to the attention of, the city government.I think taking a picture of it and then laying claim to the artwork was a stupid idea. The man most likely had been fined for his artwork, if nothing else.

I'm pretty sure they repaved all the roads on this side of Forsyth County last summer. Of course, they've already dug a few of them up again since...

The picture I saw was supposed to be off of Shattalon. They are repaving some roads here (if you recall, I am close to the mall) but we still have potholes in some areas that could use filling up. They've been present around the city over the past year but there are still a lot of places they need to be patching up as well.
