Meet my new fur baby, Chewy

A year ago this month. I lost another beloved pet, and I was so distraught, that I decided to get a playmate for my 11 year old Pom. He is 5 years old this month, and a very good companion and lapdog. He greets me when I come home, and loves me unconditionally. I did have trouble with him trying to dig his way out, and that was last year. So far this year, he hasn’t tried to dig his way out. I call him my little Houdini. It is nice to have pets that love unconditionally. I feel they are more loving, than humans are at times. He loves me and I love him, and I feel he was meant for me. I had rescued him from the shelter, and I am glad I did, as he was returned twice before I got him, all because of cats, as he hates them. No cats in my house, so I don’t have to worry about that. I am happy I can give him a good home. I recommend adoption over buying any dog, as they need love too, and good homes to go too.

What a cutie. Sorry for your loss. I have lost pets in the past. Cats and dogs. I have two rescued cats right now.

@CarolDM Oh yes we do. It doesn’t get easier either, as it still hurts each and every time. I just hope I don’t have to go through it anymore, although, the 11 year old at times, acts like she is ready to go, but then she takes off like a shot, and chases squirrels. I am going to cherish her as long as I can, as I just don’t know, as it could happen any time. I don’t want it to happen, but with her age and all, it is hard to say.

@rosekiss Again, sorry as I know of the pain. I have lost cats and dogs and it is hard. We always miss the ones that are gone.

Aw, what a sweet little new fur baby you have. He is so cute. There is nothing like saving a shelter dog. They make wonderful pets. I hope you have many wonderful years with your new fur baby.

I hope so too. He seems to be really happy here, as he sleeps on my chair when I am in it, so he is my little lapdog.

@whiteream What a cute face she has. I have heard that even bigger dogs try to be lapdogs, so they can be closer to their owner. I never have had big dogs, as I like them small. I guess you could say, I like the closeness and the kisses I get as well.

Your fur baby is lovely, what a cute baby! I am so glad you rescued him from the shelter. Not all dogs go well with cats.

No they sure don’t. The shelter here, won’t let anyone adopt unless it is a good fit, and the dog is compatible with the one adopting. When I went to adopt Chewy, I had to take my other dog to the shelter, to see if they would be compatible, and it worked out great. They pretty much, just leave each other alone, unless Chewy wants to play, then he will bark at the other one to get her attention.

@rosekiss This is a good policy, it would be a shame to let people adopt a puppy and then there are problems in the family.

Chewy is adorable and very deserving of a good, loving home. I adopted Kobe from the animal shelter and he's the sweetest dog I've ever owned!

@kobesbuddy Oh my, that is heartbreaking. I certainly do agree. At least you gave one a chance that it wouldn’t have had otherwise. I love animals to much to ever drop them off on the side of the road. That is cruel, as every animal has a right to a good life. I am certainly glad that I have Chewy, as he has a better life now, than he had before I got him.

Aww, he is adorable. He looks quite happy, and that is really great. Chewy is only 5 this month, so I hope I have him for a long time, as he is a real blessing and he really makes me laugh, especially when he howls like a coyote.

@MistyckMoon I certainly will. Since I have had him, he has given me more enjoyment than any other dog has. He is so loving, and it makes me feel good to know, that he loves me so much, and I love him too, lots.

I changed his name when I adopted him, as he was given a Spanish name, which is okay, but the name, a Chewy fits him perfectly.

It is a male, and yes he does. He loves my chair and sleeps at my feet most times, besides, sitting in the window and seeing what is going on outside. As long as he doesn’t try to escape again, I won’t have to worry about him getting hurt. So far so good, as he hasn’t tried it this year at all, and I think it is because he is used to me and his surroundings. I love my little Houdini.

Chewy certainly is a cutie pie. We have two dogs (both adopted) and they are the most lovable pups. I'd be lost without them.

I know what you mean there, as I feel the same about mine. I don’t feel as lonely since I have them, as they bring me lots of joy, and I love walking them everyday.

I rescued a golden retriever and he does not like cats but so far he leaves this, another rescue, cat alone. The beagle hated cats and will chase them, but so far so good.

I had cats when I was on the farm, but not since then. I have 2 dogs, and that is quite enough right now. It gets to expensive to have to many, and I am content with just the two I have.
