There are only two persons from my town who have joined mylot.I am one of them. The other is a student who is now busy preparing for CA final exams. He does not get time to be active here.
Recently I tried to encourage some other persons from my town to join mylot. They are not very good at the English language, but not bad either.I tried my best to make them join mylot, but in vain. They did not show any interest.
Have you ever tried to encourage others to join mylot ??

@Shivram59 Sometimes I say things on myLot that I would not say on Facebook. Not that I have any big secrets, but it's funny how little things you say can get people going.

@norcal Mylot is a site for light discussions. Here we don't discuss serious topics. We interact about our daily life and things like that. And ,II think, that's the beauty of mylot.Perhaps it is what makes mylot so popular.

@hexeduser22 For them money is the incentive. And $5 is too small a amount.

@hexeduser22 That shows not many people are interested in creating posts, responding to other posts and interact here just for $5.Am I wrong?

I have told other people about this site, but none of them wanted to join. At first they were interested, but when they discovered that they had to write English they lost interest in joining. They are able to write English, but they don't want to.

@Shivram59 I think that many people here would say the same thing. $5 is a small amount here, but we gain many other things. We can improve our English, find new friends, learn new things etc.

@Porcospino Exactly. Most people think about monetary gains only.Of course, $5 is too small a amount, but it is like the icing on the cake.

@Porcospino My friends and even some of my relatives knew I was on mylot.I tried to persuade some of them to join this site, but they flatly refused. They did not want to work hard on a site on which the reward is just $5.They say it's a thankless job.

@Shivram59 One friend actually told me she thought it was evil to make money online ! Yah, people think it's a waste of time - that the money is also not worth it - but they don't understand the fun. Oh well, more fun for us!

@much2say My friends, too, are not interested in online writing. When I told them they should not expect earning more here, they flatly refused to join this site.

@much2say Actually what they fail to realise that the small amount ( $5 ) we earn here is like the icing on the cake. Our actual earning here is the joy,the enjoyment we make here while interacting with a world wide community.

I have talked about it to a few but never persuaded them to join. I told them about it and now it's their call.

@arunima25 Most likely they will not join.I have noticed that there are only a few people who enjoy interacting with others. Most people are not interested in thinking and creating discussions, responding to other posts and commenting back on comments they receive - all for only $5.

@Shivram59 If someone is looking for monetary benefits, this is not the site for them.

Yes I have. A close friend, but he was used to be in diffent sites where he actually earns more, and quicker, so mylot wasn't his thing and never came back. :/

@jvicentevalera Yes,it does.Due to lack of time I can't join another site, but will stick to mylot. It is true that I earn very little here, but mylot is the site that provided me with the courage to express myself in the English language.

@jvincentevalera I won't blame your friend. As you say,he earns more from another site. You can't expect him to waste his time on a site where he would earn much less.

@Shivram59 Exactly, I am looking forward to finding a new site too, however I will stick to mylot too, I have made good friends here, and I still earn a few dollars, but every dollar counts, doesn't it?

I did got one friend to join mylot way back in 2007. Yet he lost interest quickly.
Now I do not have anyone close on it. I did asked another person recently to join but he is somewhat busy and not much willing to join.
Also he said that he is not an expert on content writing.
I told him that you bust have to engage in short discussions but it is difficult to make some people agree!
Isn't it?

@Shivram59 yes I did it once dragging my wife on the platform , it was late than never than she is simply a name and barely logged in after joining.
In the office , I cant keep myself infront of the screen solely and steadily working all the day and so I would open mylot. Actually not anybody could spot me that I am using a social network as they are all unknown to mylot.

@parpande I am not on any social media. My observation is that you can't persuade anybody to join a site like mylot where they would earn so little. Here we make only a fraction of a cent.after receiving a like or a comment.I tried to attract my friends to mylot, but failed.

@dya80dya I tried, but failed. It seems most people don't like to take pains to think, create posts and respond to other posts.
