Chin Acne

Poor Doodles. He just had his 11th birthday yesterday and seems to be going through adolescence already. He has chin acne! His vet said that it’s due to getting his chin wet when eating his wet cat food. That’s what happens when you shove your face in your food! Why am I not surprised?

For cats being such smart creatures, they certain can be dumb when it comes to eating. I remember our cats would do the same thing, they would just shove their faces down into their bowl of food. Somebody needs to teach them manners! lol

@DianneN Bubi does not do this, but the furry tuxedo cat of the other neighbors always do. He will become like Doodles, he wants to eat all the time.

Shoving one's face into wet food is never a good idea. I wonder if only black cats do that? Doodles has a mild case, and a quick swipe of witch hazel should help relieve it. It doesn't seem to bother him, although it bothers us.

Wow, that is one really koooool shot. I'll have to check Max, he's a glutton and literally shoves his face into his food so he can suck it all up like a vacuum cleaner

I had a cat that had chin acne. I used to wipe his chin with Stridex pads. No joke.

@LindaOHio . He demands food. If you only knew....... He tricked us into giving him breakfast, lunch, and dinner! Not to mention his treats and bedtime treats. He rules us and controls us. We are all helpless.

You'll have to start wiping his chin after he eats. Sounds more like an old person's problem than a teenager's.

Yes, we have to wipe his chin with witch hazel after he eats. The problem is that he eats all day long!. He only has a mild case, so it's not at risk of becoming infected.

Thanks you on behalf of Doods. He only eats from stainless steel and porcelain. I think his problem is from using his chin as a snow plow to shove as much as possible into his big fat belly.

@DianneN So welcome and pets to Doods. lol. Ah , that's good no plastic. One of ours had come down with the chin acne , and that's when we switched out to either ceramic or Stainless for their "dinnerware" . Lol there are few things softer than a cat belly

So glad you and Doodles are so close in birthdays. He is a fat little bull, unlike you, however. His chin acne is mild, but the vet suggested a quick wipe with with hazel every time he eats. That can be an all day affair!

@LowRiderX You are right about cats knowing how much they need to eat as opposed to dogs. However, Doodles believes he is a dog. That's why he's so fat and can't fit on the chair back in the photo. . I will start making birthday preparations for next year for you and Doodles.

@DianneN Let him eat, believe me, he knows best how much he needs. Cats know how much they need as opposed to a dogNext year, we celebrate our birthday together
