One of the most fascinating places that I have visited is Kathmandu, Nepal. The main reason is that it is so different, foreign, and exotic to me, in contrast to where I have always lived in the USA. Street scenes in the Old City are crowded, but fascinating in their mixture of Hindu and non-Hindu activities, and nearby is a very fascinating plaza surrounded and filled with Hindu buildings of importance.

It's a lovely place. We used to visit Kathmandu frequently during my childhood as one of my aunt lived there. I have not visited it since the devastating earthquake. They say that a lot has changed as there has been irreparable damages.
