Day 3
2 Thessalonians 3
2 Thessalonians 3:1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:
2 And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
3 But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.
4 And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you.
5 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.
6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother who walks disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
7 For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;
8 Neither did we eat any man’s bread for naught; but wrought with labor and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
12 Now them who are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.
14 And if any man obeys not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
15 Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
16 Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.
17 The salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the token in every epistle: so I write.
18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. (The second epistle to the Thessalonians was written from Athens.)
From a young age, your parents taught you how you should act in public and with your peers and siblings. You knew right from wrong and when you didn’t follow your parent’s rules, you felt the sting of disobedience.
Paul told the church they were to follow the teachings he gave them, and if they didn’t, they were to admonish those who refused to walk in the ways of the Lord.
As Christians, you know how you are to act around believers and non-believers. You are to show yourselves faithful to God in all situations so people will know you belong to Jesus Christ. It’s hard for people to know you’re Christians when you walk in the ways of the world.
In today’s world, there is a lot of compromises both in the church and in the home. If you were to tell someone you’re a Christian, they might not believe you because you don’t act like a Christian. Your lives should be set apart from the world so people will recognize you and know you belong to Jesus Christ.
Jesus said you are the light of the world and you are to shine your light for all to see.
Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
When you embrace God’s Word and walk in the light of Jesus Christ, people will know you’re Christians. It’s time the world knew you belong to Jesus Christ by your words and your actions.
Let’s pray: Father, help me shine Your light to the world in everything I say and do. Let Your light be in me so people will know I belong to You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
