It Should Have Been a Happy Day and It Is

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers who celebrate!
I woke up very down and blue today, because I knew I wouldn’t be with my children on Mother’s Day. My day changed within minutes when my husband kissed me Happy Mother’s Day as the mother of his children. He surprised me with an adorable butterfly necklace knowing how much I love butterflies and took me out to a wonderful breakfast.
I received a FaceTime call from our younger son, Doodles, and his wife and a gift certificate to my favorite store.
Our older son texted me twice from an ice hockey game in Brooklyn and again from one in New Jersey. He promised to call me later. He, his wife, my grandchildren, and my two granddoggies sent me the beautiful smelling flower arrangement today. I just received a text from my daughter-in-law with the promise of the grandkids calling me after their morning games and practices.
Tonight, my sweet husband is taking me to N.Y. Prime, a fabulous steak house, which has been highly recommended by several Florida friends and new to us. I’m looking forward to that!
I’m still a little bit blue, but know that I will see the loves of my life in 22 more days.

I know you must be terribly missing your children. Glad that your husband made it special for you. And so thoughtful of your children to video call and text you.
The necklace and flowers look beautiful..

Since I am not a mother to human children I cannot understand how hard it must be for you to be away from your kids on this special day. I am so so sorry that you have to be away and I know it is hard for you. I am glad that you heard from them and I know your husband so cares that he wanted to make it special for you.

Even though my family is so far away from me, they do love me very much. They tell me every day, and not just on Mother's Day. I tell them that, too. They bring me such joy and happiness, even without the gifts. I tell them not to get me a thing, but they don't listen - ever!
