To All Mothers Out There

Today in America the 2nd Sunday in May we celebrate Mother's day
With all the advertising over the past few weeks
With ideas for gifts that retailers think you will love to receive
From flowers to candy to clothing and of course fine jewelry
Next to Christmas one of the biggest retail days of the year
But for most Moms they don't look for the fancy glitter
That seems to come on that one set aside day
The gits they most love and welcome come on the other days
When they are remembered throughout the rest of the year
Gifts that retailers rarely
Things retailers don't carry on their store shelves
The crayon color picture given with hugs and kisses
Placed with honor by a magnet on the refrigerator's door
A single or bunch of wildflowers picked by loving hands
Placed in a cup of water and set on the table to adore
A child doesn't just look to one day their Mother to adore
Yet on this day we celebrate all Mothers young and aged
Mothers still here or Mothers who have gone on
With love to all Moms I want to dedicate this narrative here
To you not only on this day but on every day that comes
For being a Mother is not just a one day a year job.
