Ups and Downs of Life

I was feeling down today. I am not sure why. It could have had something to do with a week of rain and not one nice day to be outside. Or, it could have been that another writing site was not what I thought, it was going to be. I walked away from Medium. It's just not worth it. Thinking about things a little more it could be that for the past 15 years I have been trying to make a living with my writing. I did do it for about ten years there. But, things have changed so much. I am doing making anything anymore. I was really down. Thinking about all of this and how people just do not seem to read books anymore. So, it is really a good idea to go ahead and try to publish a book or two. Well, that is a dream. I felt down about all of this until, I went and looked through my blog posts. I had to start over a few times so both my blogs are only about six months old. I did realize that there are people who are reading my work. People who still enjoy reading short stories and poetry. This cheered me up a lot. I found a few poetry contests and other writing contest. I also discovered that it's short story month. This must have been what I needed because it did make me feel a lot better. Writing has changed so much over the years. People read more ebooks than real books that you can hold in your hands. Although, it was I once thought, poetry was dead, it's not. You just have to find people who like to read it. My point is that this is the life of a writer these days. We all have our ups and down's. We all move on. Thanks for reading my rambling thoughts, that I would only be comfortable posting here. What are your feelings on the writing world these days? Do you like to read ebooks or hold real books in your hands? Photo from Pixabay.com https://pixabay.com/illustrations/thumbs-up-thumbs-down-right-wrong-1172213/

I am always someone who loves reading books, as in real book. I have a huge cupboard back home that is filled with books and I keep buying more and more. Now about writing, just like you even I have a dream to write, but somehow I am not capable enough of persuading this dream. Wishing you tons of success.

I love collecting real book. I have many of them. You really should try writing if you like doing it. It's very therapeutic for some people.

I have days like yours too, I ask myself how can I keep being a landlady when people are so nasty and mean, tear up the place when I had it perfect. Whether I sell any books or not I am gonna write and I am gonna try to publish......You never know unless you try. I prefer a book in hand but will read ebooks too.

I will never stop writing because I can't it's in my soul. I will try to get published at some point, I am sure. When I start looking at the down side of writing, I get like this. But, I know in my heart that there is much I have to give to the world. I put it all in God's hand. What will be, will be.

Glad you got cheered back up. I prefer to hold a real book. But soon I am afraid they will be gone.

I love real books and most bookstores are disappearing. It breaks my heart in a way. I love books. I love to read and it saddens me to see all of these bookstores close because people do not have an interest in them anymore.

A good book generates ideas in all who read it too
Books have been part of my life for many years. I owned and run a second-hand bookshop for a while. I prefer real books, as I like to read several books, all at the same time, and I can pull them out of the case, whenever I want too. E-books are easier to search for passages, but they just have not the character, or smell, (LOL) of a real book. Why have people moved away from reading real books, and are happy with quick reads from the internet, like me too I guess? As consciousness moves around in itself, it views itself evermore from different angles, and reads itself blindly, until it places itself into outer minds that can read it too, then a book is brought into being, but these days, the speed of comprehension belies the book, so that people are flitting, rather than long term, and this is the speed of the world speeding up past enjoying slow reads, to wanting quick info gathering instead. Photo Credit: The photo used here is from one of my own books. A good book generates ideas in all who read it too.

Writers and pianters, these are some people who have a hard time earning money from what they love to do. If they want to indulge themselves in their passions, they have to make sure they have a stable source of income. Maybe a business.

Not everyone is good at grammar. I have a problem with it. But, the more I write, the better I get. Thank-you.

@whiteream I still read books. I prefer to have a book right in front of me to hold and read. I understand what you are saying. I thought I found what I want to do to make a living and then I realized it was not me anylonger and then tried something else and that turned out to be not what I want to do so I am back at square one to figure out what I can do.
