The wedding was moved

We have set our schedule today to be out early so we can go to our colleague’s wedding however on a very short notice, the wedding was moved 3 hours earlier. I didn’t know that this is possible but it did happen today. With this, everything else was moved including the reception start time where we are planning to catch up.
When we finally got to the reception venue, the program was almost ending and we were welcomed by everyone because the host noticed and asked everyone to clap for us. It was a bit embarrassing 
but we just laughed it out. The guests were going home one by one while we’re just starting to eat.
It was tiring but all worth it because we get to congratulate our friend and giver her our gifts.

There's a saying that early bird catches worms. If you have come early you've not be embarrassed. In fact, three hours advance is impossible to catch up especially when you're traveling. Anyway just charge it to experience.

I never heard of that happening but I guess it can happen. Were you notified of the change? Was there an explanation for the change?

We were notified but it was too short of a notice. When the bride told our boss, she did not elaborate on the reason. One of our colleagues told us only after the event that the church wedding schedule was moved because the ministers will have a meeting.
