You would swear this band hailed from Southern California but Ronny and the Daytonas formed in Nashville in 1964. Ronny was John Wilkin who was the son of famed songwriter Marijohn Wilkin who wrote songs for the likes of Eddie Cochran, Stonewall Jackson and Lefty Frizzell. Fourwalls will know all about this songwriters hall of fame inductee.
From the album of the same title, “Little GTO” was written by John Wilkin and went gold at Billboard #4. The song expresses the desire to have a Pontiac GTO which was a muscle car manufactured between 1964 and 1974. Ronny and the Daytonas had a few other minor hits in their short career and Wilkin now plies the nostalgia route.
Here are some GTO Shots to view as Ronnie & The Daytonas do their classic 1960's song 'Little GTO.' NOTE: If you viewed and/or uploaded the previous version ...

That was a catchy song. Nothing like drivin' a fine car with 4 speeds and a 389.
