Are Discussions "Automatically" Deleted?

I have seen a number of people complain that their discussions were "automatically" deleted. This is impossible. Discussions can only be deleted by the discussion owner or by Admin.
Even discussions which have been reported are not deleted 'automatically'. They are always reviewed by an Admin and may or may not be deleted as a result.
If you don't understand why your discussion (or response or comment) was deleted and you cannot see why after reading the Guidelines and the Frequently Asked Questions pages carefully again, the ONLY thing you should do is to send a polite PM to @GoAskAlice asking for the reason! If you post another 'discussion' about it, it is almost certain to be deleted as well, as explained below!
I just want to take a moment to remind everyone that if you have a discussion removed and you would like to know why, please send me a private message rather...

I am glad that you posted this reminder.
I think that it is also important to realize that the member who puts up a post can delete any comments.
I did that last week as it had a accusation in it which I did not see necessary in defending.
Its a "nice way" of avoiding any negativism in my opinion.

Do you mean to tell me that some people on here actually exaggerate? Hmm.

@owlwings .......Yes they sure do. I think they have the wrong idea about Mylot because they take it for granted this site is like others. They really need to read the TOS and other info about how things work on here.

Who's complaining now? And when did you take over from JJ in explaining all things myLot?

Thank you for posting this, I think there are repeat offenders who don't understand what they are doing wrong and they just whine about it instead of trying to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Very nice reminder for everyone old and new members. I can still see some members that still post their complaints instead of making PM with the admin instead. I usually avoid their post since I know one of these days their post will be deleted if taken noticed by the admin.

Oh geez, why do I feel like this is also a Facebook issue. Is there any chance the admin could accidentally delete a discussion? I was told that could be why my Facebook account was disabled. In my opinion, I think that the reason should be made known. Maybe not for discussions here since they are easy to remember what the topic is about, but for a whole account, that I think deserves an explanation, don't you think?

I'm sure that discussions here can be deleted in error but I think that it happens very rarely. Our Admins are human, after all, but pretty good at their job. I certainly think that you should have an explanation of why your Facebook account was deleted!

@Carmelanirel2 It was almost certainly a mistake. it wouldn't have been a human error. it's likely that a post or posts of yours was reported and that triggered the account banning process. It's rather less likely that it was a totally random error. It would be nice to know the reason but Facebook don't often admit to their mistakes.

@owlwings Well, in case you didn't see my latest post, I got my account back, but no explanation.I'm hoping it was a mistake and that it won't happen again. But just in case, I am going to start saving important posts and friends off the site.

On the contrary, you are expected to have read and agreed to the Terms and the Guidelines. myLot has no obligation to inform you when a discussion is deleted. The Terms state:
"myLot reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to reject, refuse to post or remove any posting by you, or to restrict, suspend, or terminate your access to all or any part of the myLot services at any time, for any or no reason, with or without prior notice, and without liability."

I can't explain why posts "disappear and then re-appear" in your Notifications screen ("or not" would be reasonable, of course). It sounds like a 'glitch' but it's not one I've ever heard of or come across before.
Notifications are automatically deleted after 7 days, however. If someone then interacts on that post again, it will re-appear in your list. Perhaps that is what you mean?

Luckily I have not had a discussion deleted that I recall but I do know it is up to the Admin only.

I agree with you; the admin decides what is good for myLot.
