How do you pronounce your name?

I was just thinking about how some people say my name. I don't mind that much of the various ways it's said but there is one way that I prefer the most.
I'd rather prefer to have my name said as "Dan-e-ell."
Some people say it as "Dan-yell." I don't really mind that especially when my best friend in Texas says it or any American friend I have says it.
My next door neighbour says "Dan-e-ella." They are South African so maybe that's how my name is pronounce? Not sure.
And sometimes I am just called "Dani."
How is your name pronounced by others and is it the way you prefer?

@anil02 I say it as it looks. One of my best friends has a brother named Anill. So two L's instead of one like yours but I can only imagine it's pronounced the same.
Cool that my name means that because I do love to donate when I'm able to. Money, clothes, toys, food, my time, etc.

Oh goodness it's hard to say how the correct pronunciation is because the phonetic of A in English "ei" and you have nothing that sounds like a simple A . Listen here which is the right pronunciation

@VivaLaDani13 Exactly as I would have pronounced, also because my third name is Daniela (Daniele is masculine in Italy)

@LadyDuck That is pretty close to how I say it but with a quicker "A" said. I really enjoyed hearing the video. I also looked up my name. It's so cool!

@VivaLaDani13 Once I heard it a couple of times, I would pronounce it right. It might be with a slight (affected) French accent--not sure. When I said it (right) just now, my French accent kicked in for no apparent reason.

@TheHorse ok now that did make me chuckle. Apparently "Danielle" is a French name so that's alright.

@TheHorse Yeah it wouldn't surprise me. I am used to Americans saying it like that and I've heard American actors / actresses saying it like that in movies. I really don't mind if someone says it like that if they are used to hearing it as that all their life. I can understand that.
I'm the same as you, I like to say it right.

I have the plainest most boring name possible. You are a native of Australia?

@JohnRoberts HAHA! You sound like my best friend in Texas! He likes to make fun ( all in good fun ) of my accent and how we "talk funny." And he does what you just did. Trying to speak our lingo.
I LOVE when people who aren't from Australia speak Aussie. Always amuses me!

@Janet357 That is fair enough. So do you get people to call you Simone instead of Janet?

I don't think I've ever heard a Norwegian say my name wrong. Swedes and Danes tend to get it right, but that's about it. The Icelanders have their own variation on it, so of course I have to declinate it in all for cases. Much easier with non-Nordic names on Iceland.
Not sure to describe how to say it. The t is quite normal, the o is about the same as German u, the r is a retroflex flap, the u is a half-rounded vowel only found in Norwegian and Swedish and the n's are n's. Most non-Scandinavians make a mess of it :-)

@RubyHawk I really like that name too. And like you said, only one way to pronounce unless there is an accent.

My name is so simple, few people mispronounce it. But it's just Jim and my last name is Bauer (Bower). Pretty simple. Although sometimes people mispronounce my last name as Boyer, which is confusing to me since the 'au' seems like it should naturally be pronounced like owww, like when you stub your toe.

@Sojourn That is alright. I love looking up what names mean. Though, I don't know if I really believe in the definitions. I think it's mainly for fun rather than truth.

My surname is Cowan. (cow-wan) People pronounce it as Cohen and it is something that always happens.
Being Scottish and rural, the name isn't big in my area.
