So I was registered with Upwork after paying someone to work with my registration so that I can get a part-time job there or a one time project. I was looking for a job and was hired with a one time project and that is what I’m working now. Then I submitted another proposal. The payment was quiet cheap but it’s just a one time project. The project was I need to do a product review. I thought I will be reviewing his product but it does not, instead he wants me to buy products from amazon, a cheese knife and a wooden chop with my money. He said he will refund me. I check the items on Amazon, but they are too expensive. But I have doubt about it. So what I did, I decline the offer and move forward. What do you think about this?

I do not have any experience from this but if this is for product review, the product should be free. Right?

Usually they are giving products free for reviewing purpose. It is not possible to buy it then review.

I would decline it also, because what if he will not refund you. Good thing, you declined it. It seems he is a scammer.

I think you should only do jobs and work where they would pay you and you don’t have to purchase anything. It seems like you would be losing money if you were trying to do that.

My Amazon account is banned because of writing reviews back when it was allowed *then* to put a disclaimer that I received the product for free in exchange for review. Now sellers are trying to bypass by telling you to pay with your money, and refund via PayPal behind the scenes in exchange for high ratings so it creates a better traffic for their item/shop and its a win win situation. Amazon has become strict with no more allowing anyone to write they received the product free in exchange for review. They should have just made a policy then to ban reviews since Amazon has a Vine Program where select members get items for free... Either way, I am still a member, can purchase items (which I do a lot of for gifts and redeem Amazon Giftcards).. but I just can't review So technically he "may" still refund you after the product review, but shelling out the money might not be cool first. He could have sent you the money first to make the purchase.

This sounds like a scam... Would suggest not to go ahead...
