Do you enjoy swimming? Is it something you look forward to in the summer?

Since, I live in a lake community, swimming and boating are kind of a way of life here. We do have a boat here..but technically it belongs to my ex. I haven't been out on it for a long time. I had a kayak but sold it, as it was kind of unwieldy. I do enjoy swimming, but I don't go out as much as I have in years past. Are you a swimmer? Do you like boating? Do you ever go?

@snowy22315 I'm working on it, hoping that I can learn or else, I'll float on the water

I will swim in water above my head, but only where I am knowledgeable of the water and can get back to shallow water quickly if I need to..or have something I can grab on to if I need to.

@Nakitakona I would classify myself as a good swimmer, but mostly I am a safe swimmer.

Everyone should know how to swim. What would you do, if something happened to your boat? I hope you have a life jacket readily available.

@snowy22315 I always have a life jacket. I suffer of aquaphobia, I have anxiety attacks if I try to enter in any large amount of water, even a big pool. As I immediately get an increased heart beating, sweating, difficulty in breathing... there is no way that I can even try

Some people that go to the beach never get in the water. I can't really understand that unless the water is very cold.

I am with you on that..it is not much fun to swim in pools that are cold and full of cholorine. I don't like those much either.

I have been on a boat and jet ski a few times, its quite fun - don't own any though! As far as swimming, I'm not good so I just swim a pool but not often.
I do love going to the beach and hanging out, dipping my feet in the water & enjoying the breeze/sun.
Happy Summer!

We have a pond that I Iove to fish on, we live not too far from the Atlantic ocean and enjoy going to the beach, but I never get in the water. Too terrifying for me.

If I go to the ocean, I don't go out far. Who knows what could be lurking..or you could get in a rip tide or something.

@snowy22315 I took swimming lessons when I was about 8 or 9 and to this day, the smell of chlorine makes me feel a little panicky.

I hope you can. Honestly, I credit the fact that I enjoy warm water to the fact that I have no arthritic conditions.

@Marilynda1225 I am at that. I can tell I don't have a lot of cartilage in my knee but it doesn't bother me.

No not a swimmer, but know how to swim. I never did boating, but did go out on a little row boat for fishing. Went out on a university research ship, but got sea sick and they had to turn back to drop me off back on shore. Surrounded by the ocean on Oahu you'd think I'd love the ocean, but I had a very negative experience when I was young. We often went to the beach for clam digging and oyster gathering or squid hunting. I was playing in the beach about waist high water. I was so happy cooling off and just standing in the ocean. Suddenly, I felt a sandpaper feeling on my right leg. I looked into the water and jumped out as fast as I could. It didn't feel like sea weed at all! I kept looking at the spot where I was standing, and didn't see anything. Sharks feel like sandpaper so I never ventured into the ocean after that considering it a warning to me which I took very seriously. I will sit on the beach watching the waves, but that's about it.

It was so frightening, that I never ventured into the ocean again. You know when it happened I had the certain feeling that it was a shark swimming near by. No one else was in the ocean just me, too.

I love swimming and boating. I had to give up my regular swimming when I had to end my gym membership. There is a pool nearby but their timetable is not very good. It's great that they offer lessons and classes but it does limit the times for public use. The gym swimming pool was available all day, every day!
As for boating, there are a few places that we can take a boat trip or hire a pedalo, canoe or rowing boat. These tend to be expensive and quite short trips. I'd love to just take a boat out on a river and stay on the water all day.

I need to get a pool, but I live in a place where you can't really have them. Have you ever stepped on glass while swimming in a river, lake or ocean?

I really only like outdoor pools or rooftop pools. I am not a fan of indoor pools, cold and full of cholorine. I prefer a more natural environment as well.
