We found my bosses dog 8 years ago in my trash can. Poor thing was so malnourished and scared of just about everyone. We took him in and took him to the vet found out he was a former bait dog and he must have broke loose at some point and found us. We gave him the name Frankie like frank sintra bc like old blue eyes himself he has beautiful blue eyes. We originally thought we might try to find him a home but we ended up falling so in love with him we kept him. He's been with us eight years. He's recently gone through a struggle he lost his buddy Linka. She was with him from the beginning teaching him and loving him up until about a few months ago when we had to put her down because her health issues just got to the point where she couldn't be saved or helped. So now he's the only dog he's very depressed we're trying everything to help him. If anyone has any tips or tricks or something we could help him with we greatly appreciate it. Were all still suffering from the loss of linka and we don't know how to help Frankie through this difficult time.

See were not sure we've had that thought too. But it might be too soon for all of us or he might get jealous thinking were trying to replace him (links was here way before he was) or it could work out. Were so unsure about getting another dog bc there are so many factors. We'd love to rescue another dog but we don't want to have to send it back if it doesn't work out bc we don't want that dog to feel hurt either. It's one giant enigma wrapped up in a mystery covered in a huge big old mess.

@Frenchie2009 We are doglovers, we have rescued several dogs, around 15, some of them rested with us (at their time) to some others we got a foster home for them. At the end of the day, it depends on the bread of the dog you get for Frankie. Small breads are more easy to keep in small places. Puppies are much more easy to adapt to their new home (even if they are from a big bread). Frankie for sure, he will be jealous for the first 10 days, but as soon as he realized that the puppy doesn´t represents a big issue, he´ll love to play and teach him/her a lot of new things.
We have always replaced losses of dogs, with new dogs. Having a doggy mate for Frankie may be the best option, if you really can afford some time and efforts to raise a new puppy for him. Frankie will be grateful.

@dainy1313 if and when we decide to get another dog it can't be a puppy Frankie tolerates puppies but he doesn't particularly enjoy them long-term we've had my sister's puppy spend the night and it just did not work after a few hours Frankie was just like aggravated with him and everything like that ideally we would like an older dog not like senior-level but an adult dog

It is very hard for a pet to lose a special someone. I am so sorry Frankie is lost without Linka. I hope Frankie sees how much you love him that he can snap out of his depression.

I hope so too sometimes I'll just lay with him or I'll be laying down somewhere and he'll come lay on me he's always thought he was a small dog but he's an 80lb big boy so he's heavy when he does that but I don't mind if it brings him comfort
