Marilyn Monroe was just one of the several alliases used by the iconic sex symbol. She was born Norma Jeane Mortensen on June 1,1926. She did modeling in her twenties and used names like Jean Norman and Mona Monroe. She used the name Jean Adair when she first started acting. From 1946 on she used the name Marilyn Monroe. She legally changed her name to Marilyn Monroe ten years later.

Would she have become famous if she use her birth name? One trivia I was surprise to learn is that Marilyn Monroe was an avid reader and kept a large library of books. She probably downplayed her intelligence to fit the "dumb blonde" stereotype the movie industry package her image.
