64 ounces of Water

Recently I was told to increase my water intake to 64 ounces per day. I thought, oh my, that is a lot of water. All I drink is one cup of coffee a day, and then the rest of the day is water, sometimes juice. But apparently not enough water. Then I thought about my coffee mug (pictured). Can you believe this mug holds 16 ounces of water! That is two glasses of water right there. I had no idea the mug was so big. And I use it every day. Apparently I drink two cups of coffee every day. The good news is this helps with my water intake. 16 ounces of coffee, and then only 48 more to go. That is six (8 ounces each) glasses for me. Photo ©CarolDM2019 Eeyore will help me with my water intake. What about you? How much water do you drink every day?

I love the cup. I drink three 16.9 oz bottles of water a day. My doctor told me that was plenty.

@CarolDM Your doctor knows best. I drank more than three bottles once when I felt parched and the doctor told me I had flushed all the necessary sodium out of my system and I needed only three bottles a day.

Considering that I drink 3 cups of coffee and I drink a big glass of water first thing in the morning, and a glass with every meal, I think I get enough water considering my height and weight.

@CarolDM I do the same, I asked to my local doctor and I asked confirmation to my brother who is also a doctor. They confirmed that also the water contained in vegetables and fruits count, too little is dangerous, too much is not good either, we lose minerals.

Been doing the same since going back to do sports. In my case, I could down 8 tumblers of water, but that's due to the hot weather.

Yes it is but when you realize some things like coffee and juice are included in your intake that helps.

That's a great cup. I drink at least 2 two liter bottles of Diet Coke every day and it's 99.9% water, so I'm saying I drink 4 liters of water a day.

I drink my quota of water every day without even taking my coffee into consideration. Once my coffee is done then I switch to water and drink it the rest of the day. I have a 32 oz water glass that I fill and it gets me easily to the quota I need. Glad that Eeyore is able to help you get in your water for the day

When I say I drink a cup of coffee or a can of diet soda, I'm told "No, you have to drink water". So I don't know what to think. Apparently coffee acts as a diuretic; and it's better for you to drink plain water. Then I read somewhere that EVERYTHING counts as liquid. For example, from the foods you eat, etc. I prefer that opinion! lol I was told my kidneys were not functioning correctly and I needed to DRINK MORE WATER. Well, I hate plain water.

If you think about there is 16 ounces of water in this cup of coffee, your body is getting that water. Then I drink plain water all day. Depends on who you ask. What about flavored water?

@CarolDM Some say that it is necessary to drink as much water as others say that excessive water use is dangerous to the kidneys because it burdens them.

I love the mug! Is that really an American "pint"? Goodness! 64 ounces makes it sound a lot but it's actually only 3 (British) pints and a quarter! I have downed that much many a time in a lunchtime - albeit that it was well flavoured with English malt and hops and not a lot of work was done in the afternoon.

Yes it is. 16 ounces! I cannot drink that much at one time. And my dr has not recommended I do. So I spread it out over the day. Ha that is not fair!

Love the mug, so cute! Wow 64 is a lot of ounces of water! That's good this mug holds 16 oz. I definitely don't drink enough....some days I end up just drinking diet soda and forget the water. I have a big water bottle that holds 32 ounces....so I should at least fill that up twice and drink it.
