What do you pair a punk song with in dual countdowns? I didn’t do it deliberately, but THIS. There’s one thing for certain: you can’t get bored with my countdowns, because it’s hard to find similar songs and genres. Blending not-so-perfectly with the Ramones, here’s today’s reference to radio.
#7: Disc Jockey’s Nightmare - Homer & Jethro
If you don’t remember this, don’t worry. The song came out nearly 70 years ago. . Heck, I don’t “remember it.” This came out ten years before I was born!
In their typical comical style, Homer and Jethro paid homage to some of the popular songs at that time by mentioning them in this song. While many of these songs are country (e.g., “Why Don’t You Haul Off and Love Me,” “A-Sleepin’ At the Foot of the Bed,” “Chattanoogie Shoe Shine Boy”), they also throw in a little “Mona Lisa,” “Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered” and “The Third Man Theme” for good measure.
Trust me, they could sing a lot better than this. But not while they were joking around.
Disc Jockey’s Nightmare
Written by Homer Haynes and Jethro Burns
Recorded by Homer & Jethro
Released as a single, 1950

You just can't get enough of those two. Saw their plaque at the HOF and thought of you.
