Oh, That Doodles!

Yesterday Doodles wanted to go outside for 6 walks. I did 4 of them. As luck would have it, he caught his first chipmunk of the season while out with me!
He waited patiently for it to pop out of a hole in the ground as I passed the time pulling weeds. I always keep an eye on Doodles, and when I looked up, I saw him standing with a huge chipmunk dangling from his mouth. He held it by its tush, head and body hanging down.
Of course I praised and thanked Doodles as I gagged inwardly. He strutted proudly across the lawn to our front door, where he wanted to enter our house with Chippy. No way!
I used a stick to move Doodles into the shrub area where Doodles placed Chippy. Thank goodness Chippy was alive as we both watched him scamper into a rock wall.
We immediately went indoors to tell Grampy the news and Doodles received his treats.
The photo shows Doodles on his kitty gym, where he spent most of his time looking out windows for more chipmunks.

I was happy that Chippy survived. They are too cute. However, Doodles was very proud and happy he caught it. That makes me happy.
Still stiff, but no more spasms. I believe it’s getting better a little more every day. Thank you for asking.

Kitty loves squirrel TV as well, and often falls asleep on his perch after some prolonged viewing. He doesn't go outside. I would not allow him to catch prey. It would totally gross me out..and I would feel sorry for the little "victims." However, if I mouse made it into the house, I would probably make an exception.

Yes, there he is! I’m so happy with him here again. He’s laying next to me and begging to go out for his 4th walk and it’s not even 1:00 here. I do need the exercise after being a shut in since I hurt my back. I want to walk him before the rain arrives.
I don’t walk him with my phone/camera. I don’t think myLot would allow such a terrible photo online. lol
They are always gifts to me!

Doodles is so cute and curious. Also, he's so comfortable sitting up there. Thank God, Chipmunk was safe.

@BelleStarr LOL! Don’t laugh, but my husband has begun a cemetery across the street in a wooded part of our neighbor’s lawn, which is actually the 10 feet that the town owns. He’s thrown many critter carcasses there for as long as Doodles has stayed with us.. Shhhhh.....

That is a great photo of Doodles. Glad the chipmunk made a getaway. At least Doodles has his fun. He must be thrilled to have you back home.

@DianneN back in Latvia Sid had plenty of opportunities to go hunting for field mice. This was his laughable face every time he returned home with no mouse.

@RasmaSandra I love seeing Sid! He really is a beauty.
Doodles caught his fifth chipmunk and just in time for Father's Day. Our son came for a quick visit (3 times) and walked Doodles for me when he received his gift. lol
My husband just walked him and Doodles returned empty mouthed. He's now sulking, too.

@DianneN Do you think he really is intent on killing them, or do you think he is just playing?
One time, years ago, I had a cat that caught little birds and animals, but he never harmed them. He would always bring them to us to show off, and then he'd let them go.

@moffittjc Doodles isn’t as kind as your cat. He either drops them to catch again and then crunches them. I’ve seen it with my own two eyes way too many times. He’s a murderer!
