My Peonies are in Bloom

I have two Peonie bushes and I wait every year to see them in bloom. I have been watching from my kitchen window and it has finally happened. I have one dark pink and one white. I love them both. I think I like the pink better but the contrast with the yellow inside of the white ones is pretty beautiful I think.
What is blooming in your yard?

@BelleStarr All the roses are blooming since last month. In fact we call May "the month of the roses".

Lovely flowers. Nothing here but palm trees. Back in Latvia in my garden, I had lovely roses like this one.

Those are stunning! Peonies are my favorite and I have three bushes. Sometimes they do well and sometimes not.

I think the weather here in Connecticut is perfect for peonies, especially our rainy spring.

They are quite beautiful. Makes me remember back when I had a small rose bush by our porch. How proud and excited I was when I stepped out one day and there it was a big round beautiful bush of white little roses all over

@BelleStarr Oh that's very nice - they smell sweet. Yes, in that case, they should be just outside in the garden.

Yes they are, it is a very sweet smell. But they attract ants so I never bring them in the house.

We had peonies when we lived in Chicago but I think that might be the only flower we don't have here. I have no idea what the names are of half of them!!

Do you have a balcony or deck? So many beautiful things grow in pots. They are already fading, it is such a short time of beauty.

@BelleStarr we do have a balcony but it's too small. We barely have enough room for our two chairs.

they're both stunnin'! i fear my lone peony bush perished a few years back. 't struggled fer years out here so i've doubts 'bout gettin' anymore.
lavender, grass (my native grasses, which i'm happy fer), desert willow 'n trumpet vines 're fixin' to get started 'n the virginia creeper 'tis'n 'ts last leg. 'tis a shame coz the native bees love 't so. out'n the front'd be spanish broom, texas red sage.

I think you are smart to grow the things that are native to the environment, we can grow things that are not native but it is always more difficult

@BelleStarr thanks, hon. 't times i regret the plantin' 'f so many trees, 's none'd be native (these were grasslands 'fore humans came). i kinda justify such's helpin' the 'nvironment though, since they help remove all the toxins from the air.

I love to just look at them, it is sad that they only bloom for a few weeks then we have to wait a whole year to see them.

I used to have cages around mine which kept them a little taller and also offered some protection from the elements.

@BelleStarr Yes I think I need some taller and more sturdy supports. The problem is the decent plant supports are much more expensive than the actual plants!

You are doing great for only having a balcony. I don't try to grow much in Florida since I am not there through the hot month to water them.
