Does one take a gift to an engagement party?

This question comes from one of my mom's friends. They are in their late 70s and really need your help! Please let me know what you think and I'll send her your responses. ~~~~~ Does one take a gift to an engagement party? Don't think I've ever been to one before. One of my neighbor's twin boys is engaged and his mother will have a party for them on the 13th. ~~~~~ Thanks for your help!

I think usually people do take gifts to an engagment party, but if you're not sure you could always get a gift and leave it in the car just in case lol

The only time I would bring a gift is when invited to a shower or wedding. The engagement party is just to announce the upcoming nuptuals. No gift is required.
