After letting you know what I didn't watch I'm presenting a countdown of ten classic shows that I DID watch. Some of these I watched more than others, but these are the classic TV shows that I have indeed seen.
#9: Gunsmoke
Wonder if James Arness ever went to a Turkish prison?
(For you who don't know: James Arness and Peter Graves were brothers. That was one of Graves' lines in Airplane!)
It was, it is, and it shall ever be THE American Western classic. Just how iconic is this series? No less than John Wayne introduced the series!
My late dad was a fan of westerns (and of John Wayne), so Gunsmoke was required viewing on Monday nights.
It's one of the great pieces of Americana culture, and it was one of the treasured shows of my childhood.
Gunsmoke
Aired on CBS
1955-1975
John Wayne's introduction to the series premiere in 1955:

John Wayne introduces the Premier Show of Gunsmoke for CBS Television in 1955. John Wayne predicts James Arness will be a big "Star."

I still watch it every weekday at noon on ME TV.
Gunsmoke and Rawhide are my favorite western series. I really can't say which one I like more, so I guess I just see them equally. Yes, having The Duke introduce the series was awesome! I have the introduction on one of my Gunsmoke DVD sets.

Gunsmoke was the one show I never watched. I was not a Western fan.

I am in agreement with Gunsmoke. A great and very successful TV run. As a matter of fact I still watch Gunsmoke on TV Land every once in a while. I never grow tired of it. Much like the central cast on Bonanza, you really enjoyed the chemistry between the different characters. Even when Dennis Weaver and Burt Reynolds moved on, Festus (a great character), and Newley were right there to pick up the slack and replace them without a hitch.
