Can you control your desires?

The children always demand something or the other.Do we always fulfil their desires. Whe n a small child demands even a cheap thing ,we scold him and refuse to buy that thing.Are we able to control our own desires.If we can not control ,how can we expect it from an innocent child.
We always want that the people should call you a wise person but do we act wisely?
There is a proverb"First deserve then desire."
We have five sense organs eye,ear,nose,tongue and skin. Every sense organ demands something or the other to comfort the body everytime.can we control our increasing desires?

My parents kept me grounded as they were very disciplined. And just by living in have passed on same to my children. Though they demand but with a good discussion they get the message clear.

Yes,I agree with you.
Parents are giving long rope to their children.There is a saying"spare the rod and spoil the child.
I think they are digging a pit for themselves.
As you sow so shall you reap.

@arunima25 yes , such parenting and upbringing are very important. I am finding this inability in parents currently to teach discipline to their kids. Rather children would openly participate in mischief but are not being taken seriously in public places , I wonder if I were with my parents then their gestures must have scared me to the spine. I am not sure if this happens mostly in cosmo city culture but I felt that it is more common to watch them in malls of major cities and the cause must be self-centered/over-liberal parents .

@sunilmishra7756 There is nothing hard to do that. When you are limited resources and need to do give importance of other things. then naturally you will be able to control your desire. It is not a big thing but your situation will teach you the right thing at the right time in a right way.

@sunilmishra7756 Sometimes I may not be able to control my desires but still I feel I would want to control children to an extent though it may sound a little unjustified.

@sunilmishra7756 Yes and it would be very difficult to master that skill. We have numerous desires all around us but to control them may not be feasible for all of us. What I really mean to say that no matter how strictly we are disciplined but a few chances we would accept to come out of those restrictions and control.
