You can't ban gays as teachers

Philippines
June 22, 2019 7:32am CST
That's probably the most ignorant comment I've ever read on face book. This old lady or guy professor what soever said that gays should be banned teaching in elementary. I don't care how smart he is, this was plain out wrong and ignorant. Well, I had gay teachers back in the elementary, two of them as a matter of fact, but I grew up straight regardless. I can't believe this is 2019. I guess were heading back to the dark ages, i mean it's bad enough some still thinks the world is still flat. Few rotten apples doesn't give you the right to judge all of them and it's not fair.

I agree, it’s not fair. I always have Gay Teacher in my school days before. And to be honest, I like them the most because they are too lively when it comes to teaching us.

Hello @JustBhem You never get bored when it comes to them. As for the female teachers I only remember them because they set up their own schools.

It will take time for the world to consider gays as normal human beings

@Letranknight2015 The move to accept them only started recently

It's sad that the ignorance is still very much out there. This is what I hate about social media - that people can make such announcements about their hateful opinions like this and spread them around.

@TheHorse @Letranknight2015 True - that is the price to pay for free speech - and yah, I guess in that sense it is better to know one's true colors. But still, it makes me upset to hear it .

Hello @much2say A lot has really said awful thing and that's the price of free speech, we just can't love every thing people says. Well, it was a speech from a professor @TheHorse who probably doesn't know gays in general.

I'm actually for free speech. If someone hates gays, blacks, Jews, baseball fans or whatever, I want to know how they are.

Hello @amadeo Well, Just like you he's an old person but a conservative and single. It's a shame having a christian / catholic professor having those comments.

@TheHorse My teachers back in the prep years were so open being gay.

I think those teachers are professional enough to teach. If they will be ban from teaching, then it will also be the same for other work. How absurd is that?

Hello @rakski the professor must have a personal reason why he wanted it. I know from experience not all of them are like that.

Hello @rakski Such comments are just immature for some one who had so many degrees. But i think his age has shown his flaws. Not to mention he's a hard core conservative.

@Letranknight2015 I've been discriminated against based on race and gender. But I've NEVER had a gay or lesbian teacher be in any way inappropriate with me.

Hi @Letranknight2015 I must say that he is brave for not deactivating his account, somehow he is not the only one who is facing this dark ages of criticism by other homophobes.

@Letranknight2015 I hope that he will be continued to work and shows the other that being gay has nothing to do with the job he choose to do. Being gay is a proud way of being true to yourself, karma is on the way to people who think and treat poorly to their own brother and sister.

It's very hard to live in that kind of society. They hated when they are being discriminated but they are the ones who are doing it in the first place.

Hello @cherriefic I don't know if this person was discriminated or not. But I think every country has it's own ignorant people no matter how educated they are.

Are you sure their tongue was not in their cheek? I can't see how someone that silly could get a job at a College or University. Some of by best teachers in high school, college and graduate school were gay or lesbian. As was our elementary school librarian (great guy and great librarian).

Hello @TheHorse I had two teachers and I never thought of them different. I saw one of them, and he looked immortal because he didn't looked old to me. In my experience they were good teachers and this old man professor had no clue what he was talking about.

@TheHorse I don't know him, i don't want to judge since i just recently knew this professor. But I think it's his age that's getting to him.

@Letranknight2015 I wonder why he'd say something like that. He must have had gay colleagues over the years. They're just as fun to be around as straight colleagues.
