That's one thing I want to buy in the new year. I live in an old apt. building and the power supply is prone to spikes, lags, and surges.

ups is a must for any computer desktop or laptop. Power surges damage the components of all electronic items. While a surge protector will prevent power surges.. spikes and blackouts can damage the laptop. I would advise you on having one

i am suprised that so many people use UPS's. I don't becuase i never have power problems. Mind you the monitor has canging brighness regaularly maybe i need one

Yes, I use UPS for my computer. I use it mostly for backup purpose only because there used to lots of fluctuation in power and many power failures around here and it is very useful thing to buy and use.

wow..ups is a must for me!! the erea where i live has a lot of power problem including fluctuation.... btw i do heavy work like collprojects and without an ups it'll be troublesome!!!!
