I ruined my wedding band

With all of the swimming, I've been doing I completely ruined my wedding band because I forgot to take it off and it's a cheaper ring. I mean it's not so cheap it leaves my finger green but the chlorine or whatever other chemicals they use to keep the pool clean it took off the coating off of my ring and left it black. I actually have a few different wedding bands. The one the water killed is actually the one my sister gave me. The original one my husband gave me fits too big and always slides off of my finger so I went to the ring my sister gave me because it stays on my finger better. Currently, I am wearing a third band that I have. This is actually a ring I found recently that we misplaced. My husband and I had ordered some rings a while back when we were talking about getting married but misplaced them and we just found them recently. Looking at the ring I am unsure why I originally liked it because I don't care for it now. It's gold and I prefer silver. I think at the time it was the cheapest ring I could find. I have never been big with fancy jewelry and apart from my wedding band, I have never worn rings. My husband's band is also silver but he was smarter than me and remembered to take his off while swimming so right now our rings are mismatched until the replacement we ordered comes in. All of the rings we have bought combined still comes well under fifty dollars. We aren't big spenders. I hate the idea of wearing an expensive ring that I can lose or that can get stolen and in instances like this I don't freak out because it was a cheap ring. They won't be turning our fingers green but they don't hold up in chemicals like chlorine. I have been making sure to take my ring off lately since my husband is super adamant I wear it and if I ruin this one I won't be wearing a ring until the new one comes in. I have never cared for jewelry. I just don't take the time or effort to wear it. I will on occasion wear a necklace or bracelet but rings were never something I really wore. I had a class ring I would wear on occasion but it was rare. Maybe our rings are cheap but they get the job done and I don't have a panic attack when something happens to them. The ring I'm currently waiting on is exactly like my original ring only it should fit me this time. I accidentally ordered the first one a size bigger than I meant to because I read the finger sizer thing we used wrong. Live and learn I guess. The one I'm waiting on is silver with my birthstone along the band. I won't be showing it off like it's some diamond but I like it and that's all that really matters. Even if I could afford an expensive ring I wouldn't want it. I don't trust myself with things like rings. My luck I'd take it off and forget where I put it.

I just bought a ring with a coral on it for 70 bucks. I love understated rings; they are commercial-free pressure and you can always get other fancy designs. I use rings for accessory, just like bags..

I don't even pay that much. I think my ring was only about ten dollars and I like it. It is silver with aquamarine stones along the top of the band. The one I ruined was just silver with white stones. I don't know how much that one was since my sister gave it to me but I don't imagine it was that much. I am content with what I have. I have just never cared to wear rings before but my husband wants me to wear my wedding band and it took me forever to get used to it but now that I am will forget if I'm not wearing it if I take it off. I used to wear necklaces and bracelets on occasion but I almost never wore rings.

@sissy15 Oh, it's okay..there's always another ring. 10 bucks for a ring sounds like fun.. I always opt for rings with quality even for a 10 bucks. Those with no quality, I won't buy. There are many good and affordable ones which are more better than say, a few ks ring..

@ihasaquestion It's hard to tell quality when you order online. I think it's safe to say for ten dollars you aren't going to find a ring that will keep it's coloring in certain chemicals. I only swim so often so I don't mind taking my ring off for an hour here and there. I won't pay more than that because I am so prone to losing things and I won't risk losing an expensive ring. At least I know I'm not out much if I do lose it or ruin it.

Sorry to know that your wedding band or ring was discolored by the chlorinated water from the pool.

It happens. I didn't pay much for it so it doesn't really bother me more of an annoyance than anything.

It wasn't discolored. It was straight up stripped of whatever coating it had on it.
