Why kids have summer vacation?

Well if you wounded why kids have summer vacation well here is the reason why?
In the past most children where farmers children. Since they had large families they had the kids help out. The kids would pull series and harvest get ready for the season. Soon Summer Vacation became a tradition. Many countries have summer vacation that correspond with there summer seasons.
In the U.S. summer breaks stats around May June (June for my kids) and will end around August or September (August for my kids). Most students go back after Labor Day (when pools close). Of course most people are no longer farmers but still fallow the tradition of taking summer off.
Many year ago school was flipped where kids had only school for 3 months and off for 9 months to help farm.

There is a movement for school to be year-round in the US. That would require putting AC in all schools (many in the north don't have it) and also paying teachers more for the extra work days. . . neither of which districts seem capable or willing to do.

There might be talk but that doesn’t mean it’ll happen. There are some kids that need all year around school clothes with special needs they need a routine for it. I also think if they did that kids would miss more school.

@NJChicaa exactly teacher deals with kids between 6-8 hours Monday-Friday. Then only get 2 days off maybe even 1 day off if they don’t have to grade or anything else. I even think the kids could use a little break. Maybe do some refreshing over summer like an hour a day but then go and play and relax.

@ShyBear88 And teachers need a break. It is a very stressful job and I usually run out of patience by April. We ended on June 20 this year. I need to rest and re-charge.

I agree I think that is why we still have summer vacation. Teachers work really hard and they time to themselves.

Kids still do work around the house it just depends on the parts and there parenting. I make my kids do chores like my parents made me. They don’t get money for it. I do tell them if they want to eat tonight they better help out or else it’s nothing.
