I declined my tutorial to young Korean students

I'm so sorry to myself. I can't anymore tutor the young Korean students. I met them yesterday and felt so frustrated about their performance and prior knowledge. It seems they don't have prior knowledge before entering the next level of their primary education. Their tongues are hard as a rock. I can't understand their accent. They were not taught about the IPA sounds. It seems their mouths hard to open for a drill of their tongue. They cannot also understand simple math lessons for it's hard to elaborate direct to their minds. They better study sign language . Thanks for knowing my experience.

So sorry it didn’t work out. It sounds as if they need a Korean tutor to do the job.

@DianneN, that is correct, that was also my suggestion to hire Korean national who can teach English so they can have better understanding. It's truly hard especially I'm too fast . It's only one and one half hours. I thought they had prior knowledge of the speech sounds, none so critical .

@DianneN Thank you Dianne, they paid me by the way of my service to those Koreans. My friend begged me to continue my tutorial for the Korean parents like my style. I brought my own projector with slides containing speech sounds, tongue drills, math shapes, sizes, figures and tables of multiplication, but I noticed they were so terrified . Their parents were there observing me. Only their Filipina moms attending their dads at their business in Cagayan de Oro city and others there in South Korea. The parents also begged me to continue but I told them that I am going to recommend my best friend who is teaching English and math in Seoul , Korea for four years. She will be home end of this week to have a vacation. She told me she will be in our city for 5 months good enough to serve these Korean students.

@crazyhorseladycx they better have been taught well during their kinder schooling so these kids won't suffer like this. They need daily tongue exercise through tongue twisters so they can soften their jaws, cavities and mouths. The should be required to speak in English and have a bond with city kids so they can acquaint themselves with the pronunciation of some difficult words. They need to improve their diction. I lack patience of this kind of students from other country whose language is not English. I had two Korean college student in the university. He was sent by their government to enroll in the university where I am teaching. I found it hard to teach the guy, but he strove hard, so he was able to pass, at least he's already mature in his 20's. he graduated last April this year and now he is back to Korea.

@Bensen32, yes, it did not. It needs more hours and my time allotment for the 9 of them is just one hour trice a week tutorial . It's good only for one month, too short. They need to learn the basics. It seems frustrating for they keep on looking at their gadget interpreter . It takes some minutes and the school head begs me to help them improve their standard which is impossible due to short span of time and their classroom experience with their previous teachers.

Young children can learn everything fast. I think a teacher will be patient and try to help the students In fact I always think it is not a big deal to teach a good student to get full marks. It is challenging to teach a bad student to make an improvement on the study. It is something proud of a teacher to do so.

@youless, I'm hired to tutor plus I'm teaching mathematics and physics not English. To tutor them in English is just an addendum of my expertise per se, plus they are 12 years old . They have to blame their previous teacher for not helping them improve their four communicative skills.

It will be better for their own English and math teacher to tutor them after their class. It's hard to bet their tongue.

@just4him, Thank you Valerie, I am so sorry too to those Korean kids. They better watch YouTube and listen to English movies to augment their understanding of the spoken English. They can read so slowly but speaking is so hard for them.
