Six Years Since We Lost Daddy

Today makes six years since we lost Daddy to lung cancer. The random moments hit me more than the anniversaries, but that doesn't mean I miss him any less. He's the one who introduced me to working from home. He was also patient when I would freak out over getting a shot, even as an adult.
He also dealt with my "fangirling" - even if it annoyed him at times lol. I mean, who do you think bought all my New Kids stuff as a kid? And when I first got a tweet from Shawn Michaels, he stopped what he was doing to screenshot it for me. Basically, he was supportive.
He was also protective, but he kept us safe. And some of that has been passed down to me, as I'm protective of my nieces and nephews. He also cared about other people. I still remember him loaning a friend one of his coats in the winter when we walked to the store, because he didn't have one. He's the reason I watch as my best friend walks to her car when she's leaving, or I tell people to call/text me when they get home.
Daddy also had a fun sense of humor, and enjoyed pranking, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren.
And on top of all that, my Dad was crazy about my Mom, and vice versa. When he passed, they were married for 42 years.
There's not a day that goes by that I don't think of -or "talk" to- my Daddy, and it'll always be that way.
I miss you to pieces, Daddy, and I love you to the moon and back. <3

I understand for my Mother passed away just 2 years this July. I understand just how you feel I was closer to my Mother and you're closer to your Father. It's the same. I found it has eased my heart's longings to light a virtual candle at healgrief.org it's all free. I remember the things we did together, the fun we had and keep away from the last week of her life for like your Father, my Mother had lung cancer too. Keep the memories strong, never forget the good times and let him know via an angle that you miss and love him too. I always ask the guardian angel to let my Mother know that I miss her and love her. You know I had a dream of her, riding the bus as we usually do for LIHEAP every year. We'd go to the windward side of the island and make a day of it getting something special to eat to celebrate the help we'd be getting from LIHEAP. We were doing that in my dream. It was as if she was trying to tell me don't worry I'm watching over you and remember the good times we had together.
