Hudson the Hawk was eating breakfast in the back yard

When I let the dogs out for their second potties this morning, I noticed Hudson the Hawk lift off from the ground out near our tool shed. I'd seen him hunting earlier this morning. He must have been successful. I guess we disturbed his breakfast. I have 2 service people coming by today. One is coming to wash the house. The other is coming to service the HVAC units. I don't want our A/C breaking down just as July is upon us during an eastern North Carolina summer when I will be home almost every day. So far this morning, I've been on a 2-mile walk with the missus and the pups, and I've fixed the spot in the temporary fence where Ginger had pushed over the post to get to the mud zone. The good thing is that we haven't had any rain for several days and most of the mud has dried up. How is your Friday shaping up? Do you have any plans for the weekend? In honor of Hudson, I'm including this video. This is one of my favorite John Denver songs. RIP John. You left us much too soon.
The The Eagle And The Hawk is from Aerie which is the fifth album by American singer-songwriter John Denver. It debuted on the Billboard 200 album charts on ...

I hope all goes well with the A/C. No, you don't want it breaking down as the summer heats up. That must have been a sight to see him lift off like that. You had a good day so far today. I've never heard that song by John Denver. Very good and the eagles were breathtaking.

Our HVAC system is in tip-top shape and the house is spik-n-span - on the outside anyway. It looks like it just had a fresh coat of paint.

@just4him I hired a professional structure washing company. They've done work for me before.

How neat, hawks are cool. We used to have one here., When I first saw him or her, not sure how you tell the difference from afar, but was a young lad, not fully grown yet. The hawk would fly above us as I took my good old buddy Tristan for a walk. He never noticed it but hawk seemed to like him. Always came to say hi every time I would take him down to the dry river bed, some days he would fly over us and other days be sitting on top a tree or telephone wire just watching us. Did that for probably a year straight. Tristan passed and did not see the hawk for a few months until my brother heard a bunch of small birds going crazy in our tree. I like to think Mr Hawk came by to pay his respects and decided might as well get breakfast also. That was the last time we ever saw the hawk, time to go do hawk things I guess.

@DWDavis Must be cool if you named him. I never thought to name the one around here. I guess I figured homie would not be around here that long. Its rare to see a hawk around here, they usually go to the mountains to live in the forest, probably where homie went. I guess I just named him Homie.

@crossbones27 I have a habit of giving names to the critters that show up regularly.

Hudson has been around here since he was a small hawk just earning his wings. We have enough prey for him around here between the rabbits and squirrels to keep him centered around our woods.

I have to go and find a new window ac unit. Our one in the family room decided not to work. I have pool exercise at 10:15 and that is all I have planned.

With the summers getting warmer every year, it seems a/c is no longer a luxury but a survival necessity.

I'm not sure what we'll be doing over the weekend. Early next week we have to get the caravan out of the shed. That might be interesting seeing it took us an hour last time!

I seem to recall that there is very little room to spare between the caravan and the frame of the shed door. Best of luck and I hope it goes more smoothly time.

@DWDavis Yes, that's right. Now we're home again we're looking at putting in a beam across the opening then removing the middle post.

I'm glad he is. We've been overrun with squirrels and rabbits this year.

These days, I prefer a visit to the lake rather than a visit to the ocean. Between the jellyfish, the sharks, and the bacteria, swimming in the ocean doesn't appeal to me any more.

Sounds like you have had s busy morning before i even rolled out of bed. I love watching nature. We use to have a couple bald eagles near by but we since moved. They were incredible creatures.

We've not seen an eagle here, yet. Closer to the river on the way to my folks' place we've seen them, and up near the lakes where my youngest son lives there are many.

Lovely song. Friday doing good nothing special going on. Have a good rest of the day. Glad you got some walk in. Wish they would service the AC here but alas a rental. They will pay for the neglect tho when the condenser goes out.

I have not planned anything special for the weekend. I will try to finish more of my lesson planning. Coming Friday is the deadline and I want to finish it fast. I will do some chores.

I will start going into school a couple of days a week next week to begin planning for next year. Our students don't return until August but we are getting new Math, Grammar, and Vocabulary books.
