My fried shrimp was excellent!

I wrote about when my husband and I went to the coast for the day and brought back some fresh, raw shrimp.
We cleaned them, de-veined them, shelled them and put them in the freezer.
Yesterday I got a bag out, then made up a coating using gluten free flour, a little corn meal, salt and pepper, a little red pepper, an egg, and some milk.
Got the oil hot in the frying pan, dipped each piece in the egg/milk, then in the flour mixture, then plopped those little darlin's in the oil. If you've ever fried shrimp, you know they cook very quickly and it's easy to over cook them and make them tough.
I had all the rest of the dinner ready before I fried the shrimp...baked potato, fried cornbread, fried squash (I know, too many fried things), fresh sliced tomatoes from the garden, and lemonade.
The fried shrimp we had at one of our favorite restaurants at Nags Head is always perfect. But I must say that the shrimp I cooked yesterday would give it a run for it's money. (In other words, mine was as close to perfect as possible!) I wish I had taken a picture of it.
Now I'm looking forward to cooking it again. And yes, I'll try to fix sides that aren't fried.
Have you ever fried shrimp? Is your method different than mine?

I do mine about the same. Tony wanted oysters and a couple nights ago I cooked them, he said they tasted better than what he would get on the coast. They were so good!

I knew you would probably fry shrimp like I do. I never liked oysters, but when a man gave us some, I liked them if I cooked them firm inside. I bet yours were good.

I don't like shrimp; but everything else sounds yummy! No, I haven't made raw shrimp for my hubby in quite some time.

@1creekgirl Yes, I like lobster, crab, scallops and fried clams. I just can't get past the texture of shrimp.

@LindaOHio That's funny because that's how I describe clams!

@1creekgirl I like to quickly pan fry them, I usually put some mushrooms on one half of the pan with the shrimp on the other half.

I probably do fry more foods than we should eat, but I use canola oil and drain everything well.

I LOVE fried shrimp! One of the things I love most about living in Florida is our abundance of fresh seafood, including shrimp! In fact, I don't think there's been a type of shrimp yet that I haven't enjoyed eating!

@1creekgirl We keep a bag of prawns in the freezer and often have them in crepes or stir-fry. We don't buy fish although there is plenty of it available. It's really expensive. We sometimes have fish and chips if we eat out.

I have never fried shrimp, I usually prefer cold shrimp with cocktail sauce or I make saffron rice with shrimp in it. Hubs likes fried shrimp though so I guess I could make it for him.

It's really easy. There are tons of recipes on line (Allrecipes), but I just use flour, a little corn meal, an egg, and salt and pepper.

Glad your shrimp came out as good as Nags Head.

I made the mistake of cooking them too long the first time I fried shrimp years ago.
