Who would have thought it?

I’ve never been the slightest bit interested in football (that’s ‘soccer’ to those in the USA). And I’m not even English. And yet, hearing and reading about the successes of the England Lionesses I can’t help feeling a little bit pleased. I confess I’ve even watched a few minutes of the highlights!
This is really a whole new experience for me. When I was at school the girls played hockey in winter, netball in spring and tennis in summer, while the boys played rugby, football and cricket. It wasn’t that women’s football didn’t get any attention, it simply didn’t exist. And now here they are making national headlines and drawing crowds of fans of both sexes, it is totally amazing! I'm really pleased.
Anyone else finding they have a hitherto undiscovered interest in football?

@JudyEv We have rugby league and rugby union as well, so I think maybe they are extra! Rugby is played with an oval ball and tall goalposts; football (soccer) has a round ball and a goal with a net. Not that any of it matters if you aren't interested!

I have been catching a glimpse of the games here and there during my busy schedule, but I have yet to watch a complete game. I did hear that the US team will be playing the England team next, so hopefully that will be a good game! Not sure if I will get a chance to watch it, but I'll try to keep up with the scores.

@Fleura I have a TV in my office at work, so depending on what time they show the game, I may be able to watch!

I prefer baseball and basketball. Football is okay.
