Do you ever use a wood saw in your kitchen?

One of my favorite recipes for when I've been busy all day (and need some carbs): Grab some Trader Joe's macaroni and cheese and toss it in the oven for 25 minutes at 375 F. But I can only eat about half of a Trader Joe's mac and cheese at a given sitting. Therefore, I tend to grab my wood saw (bought in Montana), take the package outside, and saw it in half. That was my early dinner tonight, and it was delicious. I have to play a late (9 PM to 1 AM) rock and roll gig tonight, and I don't want my tummy rumbling at midnight. What's the oddest implement you've used in your culinary and gustatory explorations?

I have never used anything really strange. When we lived in Latvia my late husband did introduce me to a strange contraption to get juice from grapes. You had to screw it to a table, place grapes in a holder, and crank a very large handle and juice came out.

I've never heard of such a thing! I do like eating grapes, though.

@TheHorse We get grapes aplenty in our city. And real cheap too. One good news kiddos visited me yesterday and it was loads of fun. Feeling good after real long time.

I have one! I do it for tomatoes to make tomato sauce. It separates the seed and peelings form the juice or meaty parts. They are called a food strainer.

I gather it's a frozen meal? I can't really think of anything odd that I've used. My Mum used to give me an old-fashioned hair grip so I could hook the marrow out of marrow bones. Would that count?

@JudyEv I still use them at times but for my hair which is not as straight as yours.

@TheHorse Here's a photo of one type. The other one had the 'arms' further apart.

@andriaperry Evil grin...should I say dumb founded? LOL Pony makes me laugh so much. LOL And so innocently he shares it with others as if he is so resourceful. LOL. Knife would do for that I think. Or he could have used grater for grating exactly how much he needed. Why on earth does he need a wood saw for it? LOL.

We've probably taken a saw to a stubborn squash or Thanksgiving turkey. Have fun tonight. (I love the old fashioned saw music.)

I don't mind having leftovers so I'd cook the whole thing and save half for the next day. And besides, my saws aren't in the kitchen But I do use slip-joint pliars to open stubborn bottle/jar lids.

Nothing comes to my mind. If something frozen is too much, I cook the whole thing and I freeze the rest. Once it is cooked you can freeze again and it takes less time in the microwave the next time.

I've been cooking for many years, but I'm pretty sure I've never used a saw in meal preparation.

Most we ever used was hammer. Being primarily vegetarian, we had no use for a meat cleaver and our veggie crumbles wouldn't break apart, so my husband figured a hammer would work (he wasn't wrong, it worked)

You are a barbarian. God no. A wood saw in the kitchen? I mean, I get you have to cut things, even a box of mac and cheese...but with a wood saw?

For me scissors and knife work well. That is the most unusual use of wood saw. If my husband reads this post, it might give him an idea to use his carpentry tools in kitchen
