LOL, if we simply give a funny name, then she will be even pitiful. Her friend will make fun of her in future. Imagine a poor kid being abused by people around her...sob...sob...

It's totally fine... Because we chinese usually like to adopt an English name, so that some people who don't know Chinese can remember their name easily. But some of us is not comfortable to adopt an English name.

Chinese name ok? Hua Mulan, In chinese history Hua Mulan was a pretty girl. She disguised as a male to take her father's place in military service for years. Lastly she won the battle and respected as a heroine, and married the general.

Hello dear cheongyc. It is two years now and I think that your niece is more than one year old with a given English name. If your niece is also chen by surname, I think that maybe Cindy is good as an English name as Cindy also begins with the letter C. But anyway, what is her name given, please? Thanks.

Ya, she is more than one year old now. Her name is Jermine. Because her chinese name is Jie Min (Jie means clean, and Min means agile or sensitive). So it sounds more or less like the mandarin name. Actually she is from another side of my family so she carried different surname with me. Thanks for your suggestion. I might recommend it if I am going to have a second niece!

Thanks for your suggestion. You are right, she is more than 1 year old now. She got a name Jermine, given by his father. It sounds close to her mandarin name as well. Actually she already got her mandarin name, but we were thinking to give her a English name as an another name, so for people do not know chinese language, can remember her name easier. So, me as her uncle just help thinking and seek for suggestion through Mylot LoL. Thanks for your response hismineours!
