cruise ships i mean.
some of them really are as big as small towns anymore.
call me jaded, but i can't help but think one of these days they're gonna have an incident that'll make titanic look like small potatoes.
but to get to today's point..
more and more are coming to my town.blocking up the waterways, and filling the town with wandering idiots.yea, supposedly it's "good for the local economy (says the chamber of commerce)",but they aren't the ones who have to deal with them.
they litter, they block roadways walking in the middle of the street like so many cows..
..and..
they don't seem to check the water levels before they come in!
the QE 2 years ago ripped open a huge hole in their side running across a reef
that somehow they didn't notice.some rocks around here aren't a problem unless the water level drops.most boats can accomidate easily, but not a several ton behemoth.
i tried sleeping the other night but the bay was fogged..so all i heard was the "hoot hoot hoot" of the ship's horns coming up the bay.
now i know how venice feels.

I thought they had many but in superficial media terms I guess not. I honesty never ever was excited about a cruise tour. Maybe why I joined Marines and not navy. I love old school pirate stories, love watching deadliest catch, but no cruises just sound bland to me. I do think one time experience just to see, thanks for tell us how it really is.

Have you seen some photos of Venice (Italy) with those TOO BIG ships passing trough the canals? They are corroding the foundations of the city, but who cares as tourists brings money! Idiots! When the city will be no more, there will be nothing left.

I know what you mean. They are floating cities. They look so top-heavy that I expect the Poseidon Adventure all over again.

I suppose if you choose to live in a shipping lane just as well as if you live under a flight path...you can't really complain about what you have brought unto yourself. Just saying. Reminds me of a guy who tried to sue his HOA because he kept having golf balls hit his house. HE LIVED ON A GOLF COURSE! He of course lost his suit.

@scarlet_woman Hey, look on the bright side. I am sure they still bring money and help support the local economy.

I prefer to cruise on a small ship, 1500 people is enough for me.
