I chose this beautiful shot of an allium that my younger son captured at night. It reminds me of our 4th of July fireworks.
Independence Day, commonly known as the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain now referred to as the UK.
We celebrate every year with family and/or friends. Tomorrow evening we will attend a concert on our town green in the center of our small town with our best friends. We will have a picnic with wine and plenty of water.
July 3rd we will be at our friend’s beach house for a bbq followed by viewing the fireworks from their beach.
On The Fourth of July we have a parade to go to. Our friend’s grandson is marching in it. Later in the day we have a barbecue to attend.
Do you enjoy celebrating holidays with friends and/or family or do you prefer staying home? Obviously, we love socializing.

I was going to say that it reminded me of fireworks - but you said it ! You've got a fun week long celebration planned! We have 3 days of routine here - but the 4th and 5th the kids and Hubby will have full days off plus the weekend to continue. July 4th is one where we want to be out and about for sure!

@DianneN We do think a lot alike . This year as my daughter transitions into high school, there is a "bridge" summer program at her new school in which she goes every day for a month - so that's why we're in routine til after Weds. We'll probably do a picnic and go to the next county over to go see fireworks. I know you will have a fabulous 4th week! Aww - thank you for asking - Hubby is doing much better - certain twisting motions and laying down certain ways still hurt - but otherwise he is more like himself again these days (but I still worry).

@much2say First, I'm on the floor right now! I can't believe your daughter is going to high school already! Where did the time go??? The bridge summer program is ideal. So glad she is taking advantage of it.
Your plans sound wonderful for the holiday, and I'm glad your husband is mending. I am a worrier, too, but we both know this will take more time to heal. Drat that accident!

We seem to think alike in so many ways. Lol! I was positive you would be out and about doing wonderful things with your kids. I'm also sure you already have a good idea what you're going to be doing just as we are. I am very excited for the week. Enjoy!!! Btw, are your hubby's ribs doing better now?

Advance wishes.. and you can definitely take pride to celebrate the special day.
We're new to the country and my husband educated me that the following week will be Independence day, that's July 4th. Heard from him that he has long week off due to this.
I'm feeling thrilled to see what's in store here and how the celebration would be like. I respect and salute to the country.. as we near the day, may be, I could note the festive mood in all the buddies here. Glad to see that and I hope this will be a memorable one. :-)
Cheers!!

@smileyhema You are welcome! Enjoy living and celebrating in California. It's a beautiful state, but we are on opposite coasts and so far from each other. However, we do visit every so often.

We enjoy spending certain holidays with family and friends. One of my uncles used to host a big shrimp fry at his house near the beach every 4th of July. We went for years. Due to age and health, he stopped a few years ago. Now, we celebrate at home with a quiet cookout for two (4 if the youngest son and his girlfriend can make it).

@wolfgirl569 I understand. Doodles used to become terrified of them when our son lived in his other house by the beach. He's afraid of thunder, too.

@DianneN - I love the 4th of July and the fireworks. Our community has a huge party! We are still staying in a hotel.(It has been two months and we expect to be here another two months!) The hotel is just up the hill from where the party and fireworks display will be held, so we can walk to the party, and back to hotel for a better view of the fireworks. We love spending the holiday with friends, too.

@DianneN - Actually, our July 4th came with a few surprises ... a 6.4 earthquake, followed by a 7.1 the next day. We are fine, as is everyone we know, but the damage was bad for people in the Mojave Desert. No deaths or serious injuries, though.

Obviously! Right now plans are to be a hermit. The weather is calling for rain every day this week. It's getting ready to rain now, as it was a late day storm. It was a beautiful day otherwise. I will probably watch the fireworks the way I've done it for the last two years - via TV. They have a live fireworks show from all over NE Wisconsin. It might not be the same as being there, but it's mosquito free.

We don't have anyone to socialize with; so we tend to stay home. It's going to be in the high 80s all week and humid; so we will stay in the a/c. Enjoy your festivities and friends! That's a beautiful photo, by the way.

I stay at home and wait for the fireworks on the news. Most family passed now, so no family gathering parties any longer. I too am very glad to be American, so much benefits!

It sure does feel great being an American. Especially when you're my age, knowing there are so many benefits, benefits.gov, and very good places to go and enjoy...Senior Discounts are abundant so wonderful knowing it was all worthwhile working hard and paying taxes all my life it seems.

Yes, there are too many bad things going on in our world today. We just have to be happy and live our lives as best as we can.

And I'm so glad to have you as a friend and hope to meet you in person sometime next year! Americans are a warm and friendly bunch of people and down to earth.
I agree with you that you can't put a price on celebrating holidays with family and friends. I feel badly for those without a close family or any friends.
