Tales of the Village - I would walk 500 miles......

Today is the 1st of July and it's the first day of the Diabetes UK 'Million Step Challenge' which is designed to (not surprisingly) raise money for Diabetes UK but also to make those of us who sign up get out and get moving more.
One million steps in three months is about five and a half miles a day. My fitness tracker is set to buzz at 10,000 per day and in the normal course of a week, I would typically set it off a couple of times. Now I need to maintain a rate of just under 11k per day for 92 days.
At the moment, I'm helping our local candidate for an upcoming District Council election and we are leafleting like people possessed. I did about 13k steps yesterday and 23k today. That means I've done twice the target today and may well need those 'in the bank' later in the challenge if I get a quiet day or two.
Trouble is that today I pretty much ache all over. I'm cursing all the people with stiff letter boxes, all those with boxes at the bottom of their doors, and all the ones with LONG driveways. We've probably done about 500 houses but they're spread out all over the place.
On the plus side, we're getting to see bits of the village we've never seen before - and we've lived here for 15 years.

@boiboing Mostly we're able to manage his well but we've been away and thus the routine gets messed up and you have a few more treats, etc. The bridge walk sounds interesting. How are the cats? Would love to see photos of them all grown up.

The aches were better after a bath and a sleep. I often find if I wake up stiff, the best thing is to just get out and get moving. I've not been around much recently but I wanted to say that I do like your new profile photo, Valerie.

@boiboing Thank you. It's the picture that will be on the back cover of my new book coming out in the fall.
I find the same thing. I'm always stiff in the morning, but getting up and moving and going to the pool and working out gets those joints moving.
