Good afternoon from me.
It is 12 pm now it means lunch time! Today my mom cooked this meals for us. This meals is called Nasi Bakar or if translated into english Grilled Rice.
So nasi bakar is cooked rice which is processed by seasoning, then added with some side dishes, then wrapped in banana leaves and later grilled upon charcoal fire. The burned banana leaf produced a unique aroma upon the rice. The banana leaf package is opened when we eat the rice. So the banana leaf isnt inlcuded to be eaten.
There are many variants of nasi bakar according to its ingredients, such as fried chicken, chicken’s liver and gizzards (hati rampela), empal gepuk (fried beef), anchovy, peda fish, milkfish, salted fish, shrimp, mushroom, tempeh, tofu, salted duck egg, salted squid and etc.
The variant that my mom made is Nasi Bakar with chicken’s liver and gizzard or in indonesian known as hati rampela.
I always love my mother’s cooking. They are delicious.

Rice is our staple food. We cook it by boiling but we have never grillef it. This is new to me. And this is economical. You don't need a rice cooker or a cauldron.

@sophie09 It's a cooked rice being grilled. I see. We have another way of cokking rice by "binakol". We put rice inside a bamboo with water. And hang it over the fire. For several minutes the rice is cooked. We're doing in scouting.

I love Indonesian food. This one I haven’t tried yet. My favourite is Nasi Kuning, Nasi Lemak, and Soto Ayam.

It really looks delicious! Maybe I would prefer one with fish, shrimp, or tofu with it. Banana leaves also provide some health benefits. Nice cooking!

@sophie09 It is new to me; although I know a menu where they use sticky rice with coconut and sugar, then wrapped in banana leaf, then each piece is roasted in coal/fire. It is called "tupig" in the Northern Philippines.

Nasi Bakar seems an awesome meal... Some of us are using banana leaves also for cooking but for native cakes.
