My elder daughter is not healthy enough, she is 9 years old and in Grade 2, primary school, when I was pregnant, I was very thin...about 60 kg, which was the max weight I ever had. I had a cold when I was pregnant at the very beginning, but I didn't realize that I was pregnant. I went to the clinic and I got an injection for 4 days. When I realized that the injection was useless and I found that I was pregnant...So hard to decide because it was my first pregnancy, but finally I chose to give birth to her.
Now nine years old, she is not healthy enough with only 17.5 kg, she has not enough energy to study, for sports. She is not smart, and it's hard for her to catch up with her classmates. I give her vitamins but not much effects. I think about taking her for jogging or some other sports, but I just don't know what is better for her.
So, what should I do, what's your recommendation?
Thanks for your reading and advising.

Your initial stage pregnancy and medicines nothing to do with her. It is safe within 45 days of pregnancy (taking any medicines).
Is she get often sick? If not, then nothing to worry, may be on growing up she will be active enough. Indulge her with more activities with children. If there is a group of children, please encourage her to join the group and do some activities. Try to give her healthy food than vitamins. If she eats, give one egg (boiled egg) per day regularly for some time. Give banana, milk etc. There is nothing to worry on her, support her all the ways. Appreciate her for her even small success.

Thanks for your advice. It's my first time to know that taking medicine does nothing harm to pregnancy within 45 days. The doctor of the clinic who gave me injections when I was pregnant suggested me abort my baby coz she thought the medicine injected would influence my baby's inteligence. One egg per day is really good advice, here old people in china also ask me do this. Thanks a lot. :)

There is nothing to worry about her. I had also faced such type of situation. My daughter is now 8 years old. Slowly and gradually she improved a lot. Even now she improves her speed in writing too. So relax. Everything will be nice. Don't take much stress.

Some of those things may be a matter of opinion or just that she lacks ability/interest in some areas. Not everyone is academic but does your daughter have hobbies outside of school?
Do you eat healthily? Your daughter is 9 so, presumably, she eats and drinks what you provide for her. If you are worried that she is not getting all the nutrition she needs then you need to look at your diet. You might be able to get some tips for healthy eating from a doctor or dietitian.
If your daughter lacks energy, it could be because she is not eating enough - or not eating right. That would be where I would start. Of course, if that doesn't work then you would need to investigate further.

@maggiesunjuan you're welcome.
As for your daughter's choice of hobby, painting is a good hobby to have. Some people just prefer more sedate hobbies than to join in sports and exercise. You do need to look into why she's lacking energy, though. Seems like it could be down to diet so, hopefully, something that can be easily rectified.

Thanks. My daughter is skinny but very quiet. She had learnt piano for 2 years but ended by complaining the noisy class, and had learnt dancing for 2 years then quit coz it was very tired making bends. Now the only thing she is interested most is painting. She likes sitting there quietly for 2 hours painting without rest, and doing some hand crafts, though not very good and creative, but I find her very interested and focus.
When talking aboout eating, both my hus and I like eating meat, we have a spectial interest in meat, we have to eat meat every meal, me better but my huz doesn't like vegetables, my daughter especially likes eating fruits but less meals. I think you are right, our family eating is not balanced and that's a crutial thnig in my daughter's being thin.
Thanks a lot for the detailed advice. May you have a good day.

@maggiesunjuan If you don't have chocolate, than she or you can't eat it. You need to show yourself as example. Buy only healthy food.

I’d recommend taking her to a doctor and remember every child is different they will develop at their own rates!

thanks for ur advice, old people around me also told me that every child has her own way of growth, maybe she will be much better when she's older. She is now not good at maths, analysing, and I'm really a very very anxious mother...anyway, thank you.

@Michellekidwell I heard that In the US teachers don't focus much more on maths, but here in China, situation is hedious, in my daughter's class, they have a maths competition every semester, and those who didn't get 100 scores would be scolded in front of the whole class, we parents feel much burden. Those kids who didn't get 100 would be very very depressed. And the classes of the graded will be ranked by the average scores of the competition. Headteachers' salaries will be influenced by the rank...So what about your children's school? Is it similar with ours?

Make a habit of her to do exercise regularly for at least 30 mins.. and eat local, seasonal and fresh food that you've been eating for years.. don't worry much about it. She will be fine.

When she was little, we saw a doctor, and the doc said we should give her much more nutrition, I did but my daughter still is the same skinny. I wonder what kind of exercises is better for her.
