Writer's Guild

It's the first Tuesday of the month and that usually means Writer's Guild. A couple of years ago we had to change the date because it fell on the Fourth and you know nothing happens on a holiday. However, such is not the case today. I will be leaving soon, but before I leave I wanted to let you know about my fantastic afternoon. I've been waiting for the maintenance guy to show up and take the A/C cover off the wall unit. It's high up and this 4'10" person can't reach it to get it off. I can barely reach the nobs. Anyway, he showed up totally apologetic. He told me if he realized it was me who needed the help he would have been here right away, but he didn't realize it and felt the person could wait. Must have been one that complains a lot. I rarely complain about anything. They might hear from me two or three times a year. I was totally blown away by his remarks. I've never felt such favor before from anyone. Especially people who work in the office and grounds. Yes, I go to the office and have a chat with the gal there, and she's always happy to see me. Now, I'm thinking she and the others genuinely are happy to see me. Anyway, it made me feel special in a way and made me sit up or stand up taller than my 4'10". I have the notifications finished. It was a good day from start to finish, though it's not finished yet, but by the time I get home, it will be time to go to bed. I had a good workout in the pool and fitness center and took a nap. My day is complete now that I've spent it with you also. I've been reading A Score to Settle at Writer's Guild. I looked over the next chapter and decided it needs work so I'm reading Where Eagle's Soar tonight, if given the opportunity. It should be a good meeting. Remember those writing tips I posted in May? They're being posted on the Writer's Guild website. Okay, that's all my news today. I'll be back tomorrow. How was your day? Anything exciting taking place? Thanks for reading.

That's fantastic, I'm glad the guy made you feel so good. So you are a tiny woman, mom was only 4'11" until she reached her 90s at which point she measured 4'9"

@kobesbuddy I don't want to be remeasured again. Every time they do I lose an inch.

I used to be 5'2". I've shrunk a little. I'm sorry your mom did too.

@just4him I keep telling everyone that I'm 5 feet tall. It would probably be a good idea, for me to get remeasured! lol

I'm glad you received special kindness, from the repairman today. Our light will shine wherever we go, when Christ becomes our first priority:)

Yes, it will. I couldn't reach it to turn it off before I left and when I got home and turned it off I was surprised to find my furnace going. It was set at 70 so when it got lower than that in here the furnace kicked in. I've now turned it way down so I shouldn't have it on unexpectedly anymore until the end of fall.

@just4him We have a main on/off switch by our furnace. I turned it off yesterday, because we won't need heat for quite a while now.

@kobesbuddy I didn't think about the heat when he turned on the A/C. I don't have a switch, but the thermostat is down now and won't be on anymore. It's good you have a switch for yours.

Thank you. Now, I just need to get them submitted. He's planning on posting one a day as I did here. One is already posted, the second will be next week and then every day after that. When I copied and pasted them from here to OneNote, it was one main paragraph. I need to make it look decent again.

@crazyhorseladycx Yes, I do. I need to get it taken care of soon though as he's posting the next one on the 9th. I agree. It seems to take longer than it did to write it originally.

Hi. Nice to meet you! I'm interested in what Writer's Guild is? Is it a critique group or like a book club? How did you find out about it? Sorry for all the questions! No need to answer if you're busy!

Welcome to myLot. Writer's Guild is a group of writers/authors. We learn about the publishing industry. The two stories I mentioned are books I've written but not yet published. I do have six books published and next year I'll add another book.

@just4him Hi Valerie. Thank you for answering me. That's so kind! I can't imagine having six books published. I've written poems and short stories before but not had anything published yet. I'm just finishing kind of planning my first novel, a romance. But I've been trying to figure out whether I should go the self-publishing route or try to get an agent. Any advice from a proper published author like you would be welcome. Only if you have time, of course. Thank you so much.
