Lost her self respect

July 3, 2019 2:21am CST
I just found out that two of my friends are in a relationship secretly. It's bothering everyone in the group because the guy is not a good person.. he's addicted to drugs and alcohol and always abuses everyone. And the girl is actually very sweet, nice and smart. She could literally get any guy she want.. but I don't understand why she fell for that abusive alcohol addict. Anyway.. recently, we found out that the guy called her characterless and abused her badly..because she was talking to another guy .. but he himself talks and flirts with a lot of girls.. I don't understand why is she putting up with all this crap.. It's like a high school drama.. and it's crazy because we're 21 now. She should understand better that it's a toxic relationship and choose someone who respects her personal space. I guess when people are in love.. they lose all their self respect.. I made my peace with the current situation because I know no matter what we tell her she is not gonna listen. And now she made her decision to be with that jerk, she should face the consequences..

I would just leave things as they are right now if I were you. I would only interfere if it's asked for or if I see that a crime is already being committed.

@Sedakabloom if it's something between him and me then I would fight him too.

Yeah.. and I really don't get along with that guy.. we always fought a lot because he just can't respect a woman.. so I thought about staying outside of this drama

If she doesn't confide in you and ask you for advice, you can't interfere.

Yeah.. because they see good in a bad person.. and then they regret it as there was no good in them in the first place..

I had experienced to be badly in love, but I had never lost my self-respect. They just use love to justify their wrong actions.

You should try talking to her. She might not listen to you immediately but she will eventually. Right now, she might just be infatuated with this guy or just emotionally attached. With time, she might consider what you say to her and leave him.

I'm actually worried about her. I'm worried that if he physically hurts her or maybe create a nuisance in her home.. But idk if she will listen to me.. but maybe you're right.. maybe she will understand..

As the saying goes she has made her bed now she has to lie in it. She will learn the hard way I just pray that nothing really bad happens to her before she wakes up and realizes that this is not the guy for her.

Had a friend like that, she had very low self esteem and believed the abusers BS it did not matter that we tried to tell her there were better options, she seemed to believe that she wasn't worth having a better life. That relationship did not end well, The guy shoved her through a plate glass window once. It took a few years for her to finally decide to leave.

@Sedakabloom Yeah, she should have used a baseball bat. but like I said, Her mindset made her believe that everything would get better. Fortunately she chose to never have children with him. That would have made things much worse I believe.

@cperry2 yes that would've complicated the things. I'm glad that she left him. She deserves so much better..
