What is your opinion?
I feel that the whole Ganguly affair is ridiculous! After burying the idea of bringing back Ganguly into Team India 4 months ago, the BCCI is once again unnecessarily thinking of recalling him to SA in the absence of Dravid who is injured.
I also feel Gambhir is a more aggressive player, who deserves more chances than Ganguly, who has had his lion's share of test and ODI cricket. Ganguly should be unconditionally put down, lest it should become a national controversy again!!
What do you feel??

True! In the last few days, it has been confirmed that Ganguly is also going to SA!
Frankly, my opinion is, 'God (if there is one)save team India'!

True. There are many Gambhirs and many VR singhs, who should be given sufficient time to settle down and shine for the country. On the other hand, Ganguly is past his prime, and he has had a long run playing for and captaining the country. We can't go on clamouring for him to play for the country, like we idolise film stars!!! the first is for the country, and the second is on a personal level!

yes i agree with you, ganguly should not be given preference even though he perform in ranji matches, gambhir is young and has got the capacity to play with sewag and make quick runs,,,,,, we should give him a chance to prove him........ thanks to the chappel for going against political ganguly

Even in the Ranji matches, he only scored something in the match against Punjab recently.
Everyone has his slice of skill, luck, fame, prosperity in life! Ganguly is not an epitome of cricketing skills. True he was a great player, but that was once upon a time! But even great players have to call it a day, someday!
In this regard, I admire Srinath, our ex-pace bowler! He quit without any fuss!

That is the pith of the entire contentious issue!
You can't have your cake and eat it too! They can't have both at the same time! It would intrude into a bowler's berth in the team!
Don't you think we show scant respect for 'complete & unconditional fitness' at the international level? We set up laws, rules, principles etc, but when there is a mob/mass uproar due to sentiment, we openly throw aside all rules and subjugate ourselves to the mass sentiment!!!

As long as Greg is there Ganguly selection is in doubt, so Gambhir is selected and will be given chance to play also. But expectations are more for arrival of Ganguly in to the team, subject to the present strains felt by Indian team with the Chappel. May be it takes some more time for his inclusion.

Are you saying Ganguly IN HIS PRIME(5,6 years ago) was much better than Gambhir (now) IN HIS YOUTH?
Or are you saying Ganguly (Now) is better than Gambhir(now)? If it is the latter,it is ridiculous!
Remember, both 'Prime' & 'Youth' refer to relative ages in 'International Cricket', where 10 years is old and 15 years is senility!
Remember too, that I too am a fan of Ganguly, but only regarding his performances in his first 5,6 years in International cricket, when he was in his prime. And that is a long time in Int'l cricket!
Unfortunately, his reflexes became slow subsequently.

some indian people like you are sick.go and just check ganguly's record is south africa.its better tha any other indian batsman(in one dayers).even shaun pollock once said "we only fear sourav".bcoz of ganguly's captaincy you saw world cup final last time but dont worry this time after 1st round you dont have to see matches.it will be all over thanks to world's most sleepiest captain mr rahul dravid.even i can score 50 runs in 100 balls(as he did in 2nd one dayer).its not a big deal.

you have been sleeping during the last 3 - 4 years, it seems. Moreover you speak of Ganguly's entire record. You forget that I am the first person to support Ganguly if one is speaking about his career performance, but I am not speaking of his career figures! I am only speaking about he figures for the last 3-4 years, which is too much time to give anyone even in the national level, leave alone the International level! Check your stats for last 3-4 years!!!

In his last 5 ODI series (including the Tsunami relief), Ganguly played a total of 16 matches with one not out, total runs=288, and average of 19.2 runs per match(ODI). India lost 4 series, except one against Bangladesh series in which he scored just 77 in 3 ODI's.
These are his last 25 ODI match batting figures:
25 574 90 24.95
As a captain, his Last 25 matches, after deleting Kenya, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh series figures:
Matches P Hm Aw Neut W L T NR %
v Aus 1 0 0 1 0 0 0 -
v England 3 0 3 0 1 2 0 0 33.33%
v ICC
World XI 1 0 0 1 0 1 0 0 0.00%
v New Zealand
3 0 0 3 1 2 0 0 33.33%
v Pakistan 7 5 0 2 2 5 0 0 28.57%
v Sri Lanka3 0 3 0 0 3 0 0 0.00%
v West Indies
1 0 0 1 1 0 0 0 100.00%
Total 19 5 6 8 5 13 0 0 26.31%
You can see that only against WI there were 100% victories, because only one match was played!

It's not a question of experience!!! When you speak about International level, fitness, reaction time, count more! Experience is acceptable, but only to some extent. When you look at Ganguly's statistics in the last 3-4 years, it gives a dismal picture.
If you say experience is most important in politics, I would agree with you, but not the international level, where every single parameter counts!

His performance and attitude towards coach Greg makes him disqualify temporarily. He may be selected only on the approval of Coach Greg Chappel. This will be done by the BCCI authorities influence only.
