Shah Rukh Khan started his career in 1988 by appearing on various television series such as the war drama series Fauji playing the role of Commando Abhimanyu Rai.[9] He then played a minor role in the serial Circus (1989)[10] which depicted the life of circus performers. The acting stint in Fauji caught the attention of Hema Malini who reportedly recruited him to act in the film Dil Aashna Hai which was to be directed by Malini.[citation needed] However this film's release was delayed and his debut film was Deewana (1992), where he starred opposite the late actress Divya Bharti. Khan co-owns a production company called Dreamz Unlimited with actress Juhi Chawla and film director Aziz Mirza, who have produced three of his films, Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Asoka and Chalte Chalte. With the exception of Chalte Chalte, the others flopped at the box office. In 2004 another of his production houses, Red Chilies Entertainment, produced Main Hoon Na which was his second hit from his own production houses. He then produced and starred in Paheli, which was India's selection for the Academy Awards (foreign films category). Rani Mukerji seems to be the heroine of their production company. Nasreen Munni Kabir, the noted British filmmaker, produced a two-part documentary on Shah Rukh, "The Inner and Outer World of Shah Rukh Khan" (2005). Featuring his 2004 Temptations concert tour, the film contrasted Khan's inner world of family and daily life with the outer world of his work. In 2006 he again teamed up with Karan Johar for the multi-starrer Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna which has been very successful in India and Overseas[12]. He then played the title role in Don, a remake of the 1978 hit film Don which has also been successful in India and Overseas. In 2007 Khan will host Kaun Banega Crorepati, the Indian version of Who wants to be a millionaire?. He has signed for two seasons

I luv SRK even if there are many who claim that he does not know acting. If it was true then how come he is so popular? Now, don't say, that, even "Lallu Yadav" is popular :) Anyways, whatever be your views about him, one thing is for sure that he has risen from a non-filmi background & is undoubtedly the King, and not like Abhishek Bachchan who needs constant backing from his dad... No offences meant for AB's fans :)
