Do you spend more on the things you do not need.

I had my lunch an hour ago , it was this topic that was part of our conversation during lunch break .
Actually the talks were centered on luxuries , the brands of cars , fancy cell phones, head phones to the garments one would prefer to wear filtered on the brand basis.Under such discussions , there was even mention of extravagant friends to cousins who went way more to spend like crazy 60 days trip to buying a bike that the individual does not earn even nowhere close to afford. In between such a chat a participant deflected the topic by recalling that such luxuries are simply pseudo-luxury if there is an emergency situation like a disease that may cost all our savings.
Do you extend yourself in buying those that are way expensive or do you also prioritize putting some tokens in your savings.

we never do this. in fact, my husband and i live below our means. the only thing we dont deprive ourselves from is food. we buy whatever we want to eat. but buying gadgets and cars, we really save for it.but our priority is saving money.for.emergencies

I find no fault in people spending extravagantly as long as it's their own money and they don't borrow from others just to have those luxuries.
I own an iPhone Xs Max, I have the AirPods gen 2, I have an Apple Watch series 4 and a MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. I have these things because I can afford them and I don't bother others just to have them. I don't force myself to buy expensive things just to show off. I buy them because I believe in the quality of the brand and I don't trust others.

@toniganzon Yes people stick to certain brands as they count on them. By the way whenever there is a new version of IPhone/AirPods/AppWatch released then do you manage to keep upgrading these assets by buying them regularly after certain period of time??

I am very careful with my expenditure. I also believe in minimal living. That does not clutter our thoughts. By God's grace, we get decent money to have all needs, spend on good education for children and even afford to do few things that we love to do like traveling, buying books and watching movies and theaters. And we are very particular about sponsoring needy children for their studies and do some sort of charity in our capacity. I think that no luxury can bring me that inner peace that I get by helping someone in need.
