(Following is more than 300-word article. I try writing this to find out if everyone likes reading a long post.)
Yesterday I attended the funeral service of my former elementary co-teacher in the central school. She's 82 years old when she died of her lingering illness. She's survived by her 84-year old husband and her only daughter.
I personally miss Mam Esterlily who was the first teacher who welcomed me in the school where I reassigned from the remote school to the central school. She's very amiable, energetic and happy teacher. She let me in to her classroom while I was still waiting for the school principal's order of my teaching room. Our camaraderie, companionship and friendship are now remained a memory.
More than an hour of necro service was held and participated in by some thoughtful teachers of three clusters. Eulogies about her as a teacher, as a friend, and as a mother were delivered.
Since she's a retired teacher, a handful retired teachers. school principals and supervisors gave a brief tribute through a sorrowful song. They sang it by heart. They're terribly saddened of her death.
Then her best friend, a retired school principal gave a 20-minute words of comfort to the bereaved family. Those who were present including me were greatly touched . We couldn't hold back our emotions. We shed tears of longingness, tears of happiness.
After the Church mass officiated by the priest for her eternal repose, she's was carried by a funeral car to the memorial park with the sympathizers following and walking a 20-minute walk.
At the cemetery, another 20-minute service offered by another religious sect took place until Mam. Esterlily was laid to her final resting place.
The bereaved family especially the daughter had expressed gratefulness to those who joined them and comforted them in time of sorrow.
Farewell my friend. So long Mam. Esterlily. Till we meet again.
