Hit a raccoon

A friend of mine and my husband went away for a month and asked if I wanted to use his car while he was gone. I said, sure. We'd done this before and it comes in handy. Well, my husband had met me at a theater to see the new Spiderman movie and while driving home I ran over a raccoon. I had seen it up ahead in the road and slowed down. It got all the way across the road on my right (passenger side of the car) so I thought, good, it's off the road, when it turns around and runs right into the car! I felt a huge thud on the back, right side and thought, oh crud, I hope it didn't damage the car, I checked the back of the car and it looked fine. Today I went out with a couple of friends to celebrate our birthdays and one of them pointed out, in the front of the car, which I hadn't checked damage. Had to be the raccoon. I feel so bad. Both that I ran over it and that I damaged his car.
